Well, I finished the install today and am well chuffed with myself. Thanks Pottsy and whoever else for sussing this out the tweeters look fab in their new homes.

Like many have already said there is a distinct lack of bass and I know this will improve as the speakers get "run in". How long does it usually take? At first I thought I had my polaritys wrong and the bass from either side was cancelling the other side out (I might still check this) but I am getting SOME bass so I'll leave them to break in a bit before making a final judgement.

I also moved my front co-axials into the back while I was in the mood for taking door panels off and couldn't believe how crap they are when you see them in your hand. I can't believe Honda charge what is it £150? for fitting them instead of the standard fit speakers. I mean, the standard ones are pretty bad but the co-axials aint that much better.

I'm not going to have the back ones pushing much power out anyway as I'll have it faded mostly to the front so I'm not too bothered about upgrading them but IMO they are a bit of a rip off.

One thing I noticed when taking the back door panels off was that unless you support the panels when you take them off the door liner starts to peel off the horrible black sticky stuff and gets a bit messy.

How long does it usually take to run in the Infinitys? Weeks? Days?

I think it was about 3 weeks for me; but didn't really know and they just seemed far better one day.
It depends how much you use them I guess! This was only an hour a day.

As I suspected I had connected the passengers side speaker up with the wrong polarity so now I'm getting the sound I should have and oh my god.....what a difference!! Sounds amazing!! The bass is pretty good I thought so there'll be no need to buy that sub anymore.

Great mod, and they only cost £50 plus postage from a guy on ebay!

Did you note the colours of the wires? I connected the following: +ve is light blue on the passenger side, +ve is grey on the passenger side.

I'm concerned I might have connected them incorrectly, since the bass is OK, but not 'amazing'. Hopefully I have it right because I really don't want to remove the door panels again!!!

No mate you are right. Don't take them off again!

Don't get me wrong, the bass isn't brilliant but it's so much better than when I had the polaritys wrong on the one speaker.

personally i would remove the door panels again to double check. I just think if youve gone to the trouble of spending money and fitting these speakers to improve your sound then you might as well double check that they are wired correctly and get the maximum out of them.

Do not be fooled by the size of the magnet!
The magnet used by Honda are special ones, just to keep the weight down of the car. The make is probably Goodmans (they where in me CRV).
The standard speakers are fine for most users, just turn up the Bass and Treble settings (probably at max.)

Sound Quality? Best upgrade I've done on any car. Absolutley ace, and you'd be convinced it was a proper amped setup.

Happy at last!
Just about to embark on a similar upgrade. Notice you have wired the tweater output to the -3dB crossover terminal. Is that because its necessary to reduce tweater output level or because of your personla listening choice? Did you try both ways to connect first?

It's personal choice; but I tried both and the tweeter is very overpowering if it's not set to -3dB. I'd very much advise it otherwise the sound just isn't level; even now I've got Bass on +3 and Treble on -4 I think and it's not "too" bassy, it just sounds level.

Ok - that's really helpful - thanks. I note the treble setting that you are now using, could you let me know how that varies from the settng you were using prior to the speaker upgrade? This will enable me to baseline your base/treble mix listening preferences with mine.

I think it was on something like +1 bass, 0 treble, but mine will be a very bad comparison as I never had tweeters previous to me upgrading.
Try it both ways anyway, it's pretty easy to change it if you like; but I would suggest having it on -3dB and putting the treble up, if there's still not enough tweet for you then change it to the other setting.

Exactly the same as Gav for me. The treble is dominant (or at least the bass is relatively weak because the doors are poor cabinets) so -3db terminal, and the same bass & treble settings as Gav.

I have ordered the 6510CS speakers and the recommended spacers to do the upgrade.
I hope it is as easy as all that have done the job imply!
Cheers

Is it possible to use the standard rings which hold the original speakers? Just cut of the original speaker?

Also someone knows how to get a power cable from the engine bay into the car? (think petrol and diesel are different), I have a petrol and didn't succeeded yet to find a hole to pass the cable.

Thanks

Hi Meino,
Possibly, but it would mean destroying the original speaker as the spacer is an integral part.
I bought the suggested spacers so that if it all goes wrong I can refit the original speakers.
