Moved my tweeter connections over to the -3dB terminals and I can safely say that the sound is finally what I had been waiting for.
I was a bit disappointed when I first installed the speakers but they are sounding really sweet now. This mod is HIGHLY recommended. |

Spacer rings
Found this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...ayphotohosting
Is it something we could use for the speaker upgrade? They are available in 9mm and 12mm. |

Just ordered a set of 6510cs from a company on Ebay (they've got a shop on Tottenham Court Road in London too), great price £45 + shipping. Ordered a set of Astra Speaker rings too.
If anybody's thinkng of replacing the rears too, they do the 6512i which has an integrated tweeter. It should fit (I think), in fact I don't know if it will fit, but it might. It's the same size (16.5cm), but might be deeper. Could anyone confirm whether the 6512i might fit in the rear? Also, does anyone know if there's room for any sound insulation behind the speakers? Applying some sound deadening material would probably help the bass and help to minimise any rattles. Damian p.s. What do you think of the new avatar? |

I'd expect they fit; but wouldn't be sure, like yourself.
As for the insulation; there is quite a bit of room behind the speaker, but it's all inside of the door panel, there's no cabinet to speak of at all, so I'd expect it wouldn't do any good! |

I haven't actually got round to fitting mine yet. All is prepared - wiring looms etc but I have not yet figured out how to refit the door panels without cutting down the moulding on the inside of the panel that seals to the original speaker after the new speakers are fitted. Has anyone else had to do this, or amdoing something wrong?

I fitted mine recently. I think someone mentioned previously that the panel sits slightly away from the door, but it's not noticeable unless you're looking for it.
I'll join the list of recomendations for this upgrade, a night and day difference to the standard (dissapointing) set up and well worth the time and money invloved. Big thanks to all those who contributed on the thread and made it nice and simple for me to follow |

Took the opportunity to fit Infinity 6510cs when I was fitting new door panel, after Autoglass damaged it while replacing side window. Fitting the new door panel was fairly straight-forward, the total time for panel fitting and speakers was about 5 hours.

Chaps, I'm fitting the speakers tomorrow (Thurs 1st March) and wondered if there are any big "do's and don'ts" to consider when fitting.
I'm a little bit concerned about ensuring that the speakers, once fitted to the mounts and attached to the metalwork, line up properly with the plastics on the door. Is this a fair concern, or am I being paranoid? I don't want to have to keep taking them off and re-drilling the metalwork. Also, what are peoples views on using spade connectors instead of soldering the wires to the speakers? Any hints/tips before I dive in tomorrow would be greatly appreciated. Damian |

When you remove the door - be careful you don't miss any of the "clips" otherwise you won't have any problems at all.
I soldered mine directly but as you have the crossover there it can be done "away" from the car and just hooked up to the crossover in the car. |

I'm allso intrested in this mod, buy I'm still a bit confused as in what I'd need to buy
Here's what I think I should buy: Definitly: - Infinity Speakers - Wire Maybe: - Screws? - Crossover thing? - Spacer rings, whatever those might be, allso not sure which type Tools: - Solder Iron, solder, heat shrink tube - Screw driver - A power drill? Not sure about this one. - A right hand (ie. not two left ones) - Time to kill Am I right? If not, why not? |

Well seems everyone is using Infinity, is the forum sponsored by Infinity yet
Im not usually a Fan Boy but when it comes to Hifi I love my Alpine stuff! Was thinking of a set of these: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/5769.html I have the 05 spec Type-R speakers in my current car but can't remove those unfort Will these definitely fit? As I was told the Type-Rs would fit in my last car but had to cut the doorcard to fit or not be able to close windows fully! Looked quite good tbh but dont really wana cut the door card to fit a speaker again! Depth is 59mm. Do the infinities have much room behind them when installed and do they have much upfront for movement? |

I went to a car-audio shop today and told them I wanted better speakers for my Civic, and he recommended a "Magnet classic 216" set. He told me "same or better as the Infinity's, but more bass"
So what do you guys think? Are those good speakers? Is the price OK at 200 - 220 euro (incl fitting) ? More info: http://www.magnat.de/content/carhifi...1826&pl=9&s=63 |

Bass can only be fixed by the addition of a small sub, a bit like Roger Harris's Alpine - or by doing the job properly and fitting a nice amped setup. |
