Background Hack for the Satnav (Tested in 09 version)

This is a Step-by-step to change the satnav background.

1- Create a folder (c:\SATNAV)
2- Copy the Dvd content to the folder (Double Layer Size Disk)
3- Make a Bitmap with the following characteristics:
- 480x234
- 72x72 dpi
- 16 bit depth
- Color
- 224.712 bytes (* must be exact)
- Check the tips from mel2401
4- Use Bysin to update (Opening1.bmp) in all the bin's (*2.bin) in the folder created (c:\SATNAV) with the new Bitmap.
5- Open favorite software to burn your DVD (single layer)
-Add all files to the compilation (root)
-Sort by size (smallest to biggest)
-Remove the biggest files until you can burn the DVD (single layer)
-Burn it
6- Update the new disk in Sat Nav.
Start the satnav, put the DVD (single layer) just created and close the lid. After an error, go into the diagnostic menu (3 buttons) and chose Version and then Download. Wait a few minutes for the data to load and bingo!
7- Place the new version DL-DVD (another disk) to navigate

I use a Blank unbranded single layer to make the background change and a TDK double layer to make a backup (direct ISO burn) to replace in the Sat Nav.

Hope this clears all doubt's

Ok... Is your OperationSystem Windows7 (check folder permissions, please do not perform the update process in the root).
Check also if the file is not read only...
and make:
C:\SATNAV>bysin smga2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
Update all the bin's (*2.bin)

Right I have tried CEBin to change the file Opening1.bmp in
SEAX2.bin SMGA2.bin SJAZe2.bin 10AVNe2.bin 09AVNe2.bin 07AVNe2.bin and that has worked but when I put the disc in and run the update I get the check disc error.

I burned the disc at 2x using imgburn and have tried cd and dvd discs , they check ok after burning.

Hi,
The error message is right!
Check section 6 of the myuser post..
simultaneously press the three buttons for 5 sec.(Menu, Map, Cancel) .. and forces the Diagnostic menu!
..and chose Version and then Download.. Wait..
---Do it all with the engine running!---
Good luck!

Why not contact [windstar] via his personal eMail address - see Supporters Section - the latest version 3.60 has changed the sizes \ specs for the start-up screen(s) ...

Cheers JDR... already done that .
The disc I have contains a custom Splash screen only and I want to edit it back to the original. Having a try myself until Windstar replies and I'm not doing too bad... I've so far managed to rip the original splash from an older 3.52 disc I had laying around....just looks as if I need to update the 6 .BIN files using bysin now

Ahh, "there's the rub" - all versions up to and including 3.52 use the same parameters for the Startup Screen(s) - for 3.60, NavTeq have sneakily amended it by a tiny amount, but it's enough to render all previous 'Hacks' obsolete ...

I was beginning to wonder that JDR ... ah well, I'm just burning a copy using this method from Windstar...

Picture Hack for the satnav

...If this fails I'll just sit looking miserable until he replies LOL.

I'll report back in an hour either way.

Picture Hack for the satnav

Hey Guys,

This thread seems to have gone quiet. I recently got hold of a 2009 accord. It has DVD Sat nav and the DISCLBL.INF file states "BATMAN 3.31"

The DVD does not have 10AVNe2 on it, just 07AVNe2.bin and 09AVNe2.bin

bysin successfully updates the opening1.bmp files ( I used photoshop to output the bmp and confirmed that after a bysin update, a bysin extract on the file also spat out the correct file.)

Following descriptions on the thread here I copied all files to CD-R but system hits a Disc read error on the download option...

Any ideas?

Below is the script I am using prior to burning to disc. ( the main set of files are in the SATNAV folder, the ones I modify with bysin are in a separate folder) :-

---
bysin 07AVNe2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
bysin 09AVNe2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
bysin SJAZe2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
bysin SMGA2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
bysin SEAX2.bin update Opening1.bmp Opening1.bmp
