Thanks for this guide! Done this the weekend with no real problems. Took about an hour and a half and that was taking time to clean bits and pieces and 3 ciggie breaks.
All iPoded up now |

However, I did use the Y-Cable anyway, to make it easy to connect something else in the future |

Why do I get stuck at the part that looks the easiest
The screws at the bottom of the unit just don't want to be opened. The left one looks like I've destroyed the crosshead. So not sure I will be able to open it now Otherwise easy guide UPDATE : Resolved it by using a piler Last edited by hapzuk; 16th November 2012 at 12:50. |

just testing the xcarlink.
It doesn't seem to play the song on the speakers when connected by USB and only though the headphones wire. If i connect both, it plays the song for a short while then it changes between different folders automatically. Am I doing something wrong? Last edited by hapzuk; 16th November 2012 at 13:08. |

I'm using my Samsung Galaxy S3 with the Xcarlink.
So when I use my USB lead and connect the S3 with the unit, it charges however the sound when playing a song comes from the phone. If I use the headphone jack with the xcarlink it works fine. If I use the jack and the USB lead both at the same time (charge the phone, whilst playing a song) it will keep flicking through the folders. so essentially playing the song/cutting off, playing the song/cutting and so on. I would rather play songs off my phone and let it charge at the same time. |

I think you need to mount the phone as a USB drive with songs in folders that the Xcarlink recognises. If you want to let the phone manage the songs you need to use the jack or get the Bluetooth module for the Xcarlink. I have that and it works great and doubles as a handsfree kit too

I've just bought a 2007 Civic CTDI ES Model but don't fancy doing this.
Anyone willing to do a job for me? Happy to pay for the job. I live in Leicester. |
