The Type R dash is £42.62 plus VAT (£50.08 all in)
Part number 78121SMTE01 Switch for headlight adjustment to fill the hole (for us EX owners) £30.08 plus VAT (£36.06 all in) Part number 35820SMGE01 So to replace your scratched dash with a Type R one, in worse case if you're an EX owner, will cost £86.14 if you're brave enough to do it yourself. I'm waiting on Customer Services as to whether I have to pay for mine, but that's another story..... Sorry to anyone who has already posted parts of this info.... Ian |

I'm told it forms part of the whole centre section, so includes the dials and electronics behind, I didn't really wanna know what that was likely to cost!

Just had a search around.
Topcat seems to have found out that the perspex section in front of speedo is a seperate part. Replace the fascia with the Type R glare and scratch free one |

On the 'how to' by Pottsy he seemed to have a 'blank' in the place of the headlight adjuster ?
A blank would halve the price of the project. |

PS This is the old one as you can probably tell by the scratches.
It wasn't as bad as this until I tried to polish it. Easy to fit just two screws and unclip from the electrics. Instruments just clip to the back of this "visor" so unclip them from the old one and attched them to the new one. |

Toothpaste. I had heard people use it on mobile phones
X-Plastic makes no difference either. The main problem isn’t as you look at it, but if you look at it from the side. It has a very smooth surface that appears totally different from the side if polished. Anything is worth a try. It’s so easy to change if you mess it up like me. Parting with the £77 is the hardest thing. |

I,m not going to ask you to go and buy some brasso but if you've got some kicking around and a few spare minutes could you try it for us with a lint free cloth on your already scratched screen. Cheers Ben

Did this to my Type R facia took the mark out of the plastic but also removed the non-reflective film off. Ended up doing the whole front, to remove the coating, know the screen is more reflective, but will be easier to remedy if scratched again? Looking to get a new one I think......................... |

Thinking of doing this to my EX not to specifically replace the shiny dash, but to use the redundant headlight switch to operate my garage door remote. Thus hiding it out of sight behind the dash.
Can anyone who has had his or her hands on the switch comment on if it is feasible? As it’s a rotary switch I guess I would need to change the innards for a push switch. Last edited by DigitalPlumber; 27th June 2008 at 11:16. |
