Tyre rotation calculator
Following a long discussion about tyre rotation, I've been meaning to make a calculator to work out the optimum rotation mileage (and more).
You'll need a tyre depth gauge, pictured below (about £3 or £4). Anyway, here's the calculator: http://www.civinfo.com/forum/rotate.php You enter your current tread depths and what you consider to be the minimum acceptable end-of-life depth and it will tell you stuff like: Quote:

What a great idea, I just generally wait for the front to wear to something near minimum and then change over, at least now I know now when to rotate and when to start saving for a new set!!!

There seem to be different schools of opinion on this one.
Some say rotate, some say leave the tyre/wheel on the corner it has got used to. Being lazy guess which school I've joined ? |

You should rotate your tyres at 42,000 miles. The set will need replacing at 84,000 miles.
If you don't rotate your tyres, the fronts will wear out at 42,000 miles, and the rears will wear out at 700 miles |

My tyres rotate quite nicely on their own.
Much prefer to replace two tyres at a time (fronts) rather than wait and get stung for four at once if I rotated. |
