Dont worry about some of the negative and immature comments from the Type R owners
I think it looks much better and compliments the grill.
An excellent paint job.
Well done

The op is a big boy and I'm sure he will realize that there may be other people in the world with a different opinion to his. I hate miss badged cars of any kind type R of otherwise.

People in the know will laugh and people not in the know. Well they will not know any different.

If he likes it then that's all that matters my opinion should not matter to him in the slightest.

I just don't like to see people shoot down other peoples efforts on here. He's obviously tried hard at this and in my opinion the results are great.

If there had been a Type R grille badge next to the red Honda logo when it aint a Type R then fine but I don't see any problem in making the Honda badge red. I'm all for DIY jobs like this as some people on here don't have money to splash on badges, millteks or fancy oil caps. If it makes the badge look nicer than previously then result! And this mod does just that.

"If he likes it then that's all that matters my opinion should not matter to him in the slightest." Why comment at all then?

Oh and one last thing "Redino Redino Redino"

Would love to just pop a sem sometimes on here.

The above represents the truth spoken by the 21st century version of Martin Luther King Jr. I just can't believe people would take small digs at people who have spent some time modding their car. I have a Type-R spoiler on my car but it doesn't mean I drive round thinking I have a 8200 rpm redline and a milltek. It's a Type S with an R spoiler because the R spoiler looks mint.

All this guy has done is coloured his badge and you're making him feel downbeat and a bit downtrodden. There's not a Type R badge in sight - it's just the same badge with the colour red.

Semmels.

Unfortunately if you post pictures of your car on a global forum - and have done a little bit of a frowned upon - not to mention - DIY modification. Then I'm afraid you will get negative criticism as well as the positive. I'm sure he does not mind different opinions. He is an adult after all.

For example if the op was a 5 year old who had just drawn a picture I would tell him its very good and encourage him to do more (so he becomes better) As inside you would realize the picture was not very good this you would keep to yourself as you would not want to put the child off drawing for life.

He is not 5 years old. And in imho has not "drawn a good picture"

PS the very fact it's red in colour means it's a Type R badge

Now now children, lets all calm down. I appreciate all comments positive and negative as everyone has their own opinion.
It would be a boring boring world if we all liked the same things and all our Civics looked the same.
I like the CTR grill and badge which is why I modified my badge.
I do however disagree with the comment that it looks like a cheap version from china/ebay.
Anyway; the positives far exceed the negatives and the main thing is I like it and if this How To helps others save a few pennies I am a happy man.

Krissyboy, I am with you, I get positive and negative (mostly negative) about my Carbon Fiber grill, but all that matters to me is that I like it (and judges at all the car shows I have been to this year do too) and am excited that there is NO Civic like mine! I say to you: good job, ignore naysayers, and look for your next creation of individuality!!!

Th3Doctor you must remember one thing which is noticable on this forum - no matter what youve done to your car, there will be tons of comments how awesome it looks now and what a top job. Its silly that people create modifications thread just to show they put replacment fog blanks and therefore get some attention. That was very offtopic, sorry.

whether it be fog blanks or a modded engine, the whole point of this forum is to share how different people have done things and/or get opinions and advice whether they be good/bad.

You make it sound as though it's attention seeking, which to me, is a daft response.

Its great there is variation, Krissyboy22 and sctrpop have done it their way and fair play to them I say.

Yes, thats why Th3doctor stated he's opinion and it looked like he has been bashed couse he thinks differently than people who do not own TypeRs.
Point made.

Why's that ? what is so different when you put a stupid teddy bear or cushion inside your car ? What is different when you replace your blanks with TypeS blanks, it has been done million times before - doesnt need to create 1000 topics about it. Your car is not special by that. Its special when you put something which hasnt been done before. The badge yes - its kinda special but i dont know why its a daft response to (i guess) creator of the topic as i didnt post my opinion about the badge. To clarify i was talking about whole situation.
Point made again.

This is just stating the obvious, I don't see a point made here.

The Doctor is entitled to his opinion and I respect him for that, I'm not "bashing" him.

Why's that ? what is so different when you put a stupid teddy bear or cushion inside your car ?

Irrelevant flippant example

What is different when you replace your blanks with TypeS blanks, it has been done million times before - doesnt need to create 1000 topics about it.

Maybe you have seen "it" before as you're an older more established member.

However the cycle of newer members joining every day may not have. If they can't find anything by the search engine are you saying they don't should not post a thread? 1001

Your car is not special by that.

maybe not for you, but to others it might be.

Its special when you put something which hasnt been done before. The badge yes - its kinda special but i dont know why its a daft response to (i guess) creator of the topic as i didnt post my opinion about the badge.

Not about the badge I know

To clarify i was talking about whole situation.

Yes I know, I was refering to what you wrote below

"Its silly that people create modifications thread just to show they put replacment fog blanks and therefore get some attention."

Again. I didnt state my opinion on this badge.

Again, I know already.

Where are you heading?

Good job and a great write up.

Unfortunately you will get the odd negative comment from Type R owners because the badge is red! Some seam to think they are elite and better than other Civic owners and anyone who modifies their car is therefore open to snide comments.

Good luck with the car and don't let the so and so's put you down!

As others have already written ...

"It's not for me, but it's good to be a bit different" ...

Just as long as we all 'play nice' - i.e. criticise the mod. and not the person who did it ...

Personally, I'm thinking of a little 'bling' - Gold H on the Black background (front and rear) ...

If I do it, it'll be because I like it - but I wouldn't expect everyone to agree ! ...

(Now, where can I get my hands on some genuine gold leaf ) ...

Good effort by the OP.
This is a very silly response let me elaborate. A badge is never only a badge. A badge is a means of identification - brand/rank/performance, you name it. All at a glance.

A badge can evoke emotion. Good (Ferraris prancing horse). Bad (Arsenal logo) and in some cases reduce the person seeing the badge to tears (the Swastika). A very powerful com indeed.

In the case of football teams the supporters don't rally round the players that change every 5 minutes. They rally round the name/colours/meaning that are all assembled in the badge. It's almost gets a religious following.

The same can be said of many famous and infamous logo/badges/icons across history the oldest is probably the crucifix.

In this case it's cars - the red backing replacing the black backing has been used on the type r vehicles made by Honda since their inception. It means that the car that wares the 'badge' is a bit different (not better I hasten to add I really do like the civic in all it's guises) but most importantly it has a special high revving engine that without the aid of a turbo charger makes over 200bhp coupled to a sharpe chassis/suspension that is never overwhelmed by said engine. *This like football - *to some is a religion.

By placing this badge (by this I mean replicating a ctr badge) on one of the other civics you are just 'cheapening the marque' 'watering down the brand' this is the only thing I have a problem with. And your knowledge of badge history

As I'm sure you can see the 'badge' is one of if not the most important communication devices devised by man. So by saying a badge is just a badge - words fail me
