But the most importand thing is the high power that will flow through the new circuit when the reverse lights come on (approx. 3,5 Ampere!)
That's what i mean to prevent from damage.

Ahhh yes, Schemtics should now work
I assume you mean to protect the purple wire circuit, as the brown would normaly receive the full power from the reversing lights anyway.

My DPDT switch is doing the same job as your diodes - isolating one circuit from the other.

I would be interested to hear that, and how, as I don't have a camera, just the standard Honda fit Sat Nav

Yes you can do it, but you have to make you own cable to connect directly to the pins on the back og the Navigation Unit. Honda only supply the plug/cable as part of the reversing camera kit, which is quite expensive!

Have a look here for more info.

Bog, can you explain what is a DPDT switch and how would you install it?

Jupdio, is it tough to take away the navigation unit from the glove compartment and do all the connections?

Connector

I called Honda today and you can only source with the camera kit £388.64 inc VAT!!! I then emailled Alpine support who say that its a Honda connector and not theirs... The only way to get one is for someone to write their precious car off and then get it from a scrap yard!

I m first in the queue....

Look at the this thread from the USA ...

http://www.tsxclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17965

The Acura TSX has the same Navigation unit as the Civic and this guy uses a 100KK Molex connector.

I've googled but can't find a stockist in the UK.

Video Switch Circuit

Here's my circuit for a Video Switch:

Operating modes:

Power On State: normal Screen Display
Press Button S1 first time: Video Input 1 is selected
Press Button S1 again: Video Input 2 is selected
Press Button S1 again: Camera is selected
Press Button S1 again: restart from beginning (normal Screen and so on...)

The Rear-Camera always have the highest priority. So when you go into reverse the camera turns on (Ok, that's nothing new but important for developing this circuit)

hey good job when it works. one suggestion. first try to wire in the radio source selector from the steering wheel or the cancel button to change between the video source

A luxory version was. Create more circuits for audio input. My wish is to connect an ipod video via navi and controll them with the navi wheel an the steering wheel buttons. so you had video on nav screen, mp3 and photos.

Nice one Jupido.
Have you guys given any thought about what it will take to get the source video to be fully displayed without the bottom lines missing ? I assume the missing lines are due to the input lines needing to match the display, and there is no video processing. It needs thinking about when choosing an RV camera.

PCB Ver. 0.1

The circuit works very good! Here's a picture from my Developement Board installed in my car.

Next step is to add the sound switch circuit. This Job will do an additionally CD4052 as Audio Input selector.

When everything works properly i will make a first PCB...

Can anyone save me from getting a headache and help me understand the following ?.

Prior to selecting a rearview camera, I fed the satnav with a standard
TV PAL-I interlaced composite signal and also an NTSC signal.

The display for the PAL signal was the correct width but the bottom approx' 15% of the input was not displayed, same as jupdio's photos.

The NTSC signal was fully displayed but with a border all around of approx' 6mm.

Also, I couldn't find any way of controlling the brightness for the RV input, the nornal brightness control does not apply.
