I had drop links replaced less than a year ago because of the noises. problem solved,
but had to change them again last week because the seals were damaged,so i bought 2 new ones from ebay, £25 for both replaced them myself easy job to do.
but i noticed that they were about 1" shorter than the ones that a local garage replaced last year so i don't know which ones are the correct size. Drivers side noise is still there. so annoying.

Stopped my suspension knocking when I did mine.

If you get both sides of the car jacked up on axle stands you'll have no trouble with alignment etc.

Thanks for this how to. Just changed my drop links today. I jacked up the entire front end and took both wheels off which took the load off the anti roll bar which meant I didn't need to lower the car down onto a hub support. I had to cut two of the nuts off as they were completely stuck. The car feels completely different now, much sharper handling.

Thanks for this - awesome write-up. Will be needing this shortly! Quick query though - is it an urgent (or dangerous) issue if these are knocking? mine started about 2 weeks ago and it's getting worse. I've got time off work in a fortnight but do about 300 miles a week. That safe?

It's not dangerous up to a limit, obviously you don't want the ARB detaching but a small amount of play is acceptable. Mine were knocking from November 2011 to Feb 2012 as I was waiting for the weather to improve before changing them.
