Hello to all of you Civinfo-Members!
I’ve done the first do it yourself jobs on my brand new type S during the last couple of days. This Forum helped me a lot doing these things, I`m very thankful for all of the How-To`s I found in here. Thanks to all of you who made those tutorials and thanks also for all of the Interesting threads in this forum! So, let`s start having a look on the works I did: - Sound isolation of the doors - installing blue ambient (interior) lighting - installing blue lighting in the trunk - installing blue manual dimmable footwell lights And finally, what I’m specially proud of: - installing a Parrot CK3100 together with Parrot Multicomm steering wheel control Sound Isolation of the doors was done like Rasmus wrote in his sound isolation thread (Sound isolation). Thanks Rasmus, your thread was very helpful for me. In both of the doors I installed 2 sheets of bitumen isolation (500x500x5.5mm). The work has been done easily and the result is fine, the doors sound really massive right now. DSC00228.jpg Inside of the car I installed the blue interior lighting as written in the “blue interior lights” wiki. This has been done in a few seconds. In the trunk I changed the oem light with a blue 4 led light, it’s the same one like used in the map lights. Also I fitted three led strips to the trunk, Connected to the trunk-light, so that they are switched on as soon as the trunk gets opened. Each of the three strips has got three ultra bright blue superflux leds on it. I think the result is quite amazing for the little work I had with it. DSC00294.jpg For the footwell lighting I used two chips with 12 superflux leds mounted on each of them. DSC00304.jpg The power comes from the cig lighter and goes through a led dimmer mounted in the little silver stowage case behind the gear stick, so you can control the intensity manually at each time. Here is the dimmer and switch holder i built: DSC00282.jpg And here`s a pic of the dimmer and the Parrot display ready installed in the stowage case: DSC00291.jpg Additionally there is a blue led installed in the stowage case and two blue leds inside of the case in the center console (where the ashtray is located). The result is looks like this: DSC00301.jpg Finally there was the Parrot CK3100 to install. Therefore I used the post Pottsy wrote about how to get into the dash ([HOW TO] Get into the dash). Thanks Pottsy, this thread helped a lot! Installing the Ck3100 was absolutely no problem. Using the Iso2Car adaptor from Kram Telekom there’s nothing you can do wrong connecting the cables. No wires need to be cut or spliced. The only little problem was to get all the additional cables stored into the free spaces behind the panels. The whole Parrot system I put into the place behind the gearstick, after wrapping the components into some foam to protect them against shocks and vibrations. DSC00273.jpg Installing the Multicomm system was also quite simple, after understanding what to do. The Multicomm is the little blue box you can see on the pic: DSC00290.jpg There is one single cable, called V1, which needs to be connected to the wire coming from the steering wheels volume control buttons. The connector inculding this cable is located on top of the steering wheel column behind the wheel, you can see after displacing the plastic covers around the column. The cover is fixed with 3 screws located under the steering wheel column. On this connector the needed wire is the fourth cable from the right side of the upper cable row, when looking onto the back of the connector where all the cables come out. The connector has got 20 pins, you need to connect to pin 14 (the position where the X is): upper cable row 20 * * * * * * X * * * 11 lower cable row 10 * * * * * * * * * * 01 The cable which is needed is the pink one. This needs to be spliced and the cable coming from the Multicomm needs to be connected to it. DSC00286.jpg DSC00288.jpg That’s all you have to do to get the Multicomm working, the rest of wiring it into the CK3100 System is very easy, because everything’s prepared by Parrot to put the two parts of the system together. After having done this you can answer incoming calls, end or refuse incoming calls, start voice recognition, adjust the parrots volume and do many things more just by pressing the steering wheels volume and skip buttons. If there are any questions about having those works done, just send me a pm, and I’ll try to help you out. Also please excuse me if my English sometimes might not be the very best… I hope my thread is useful for some of you! Thanks and have a nice day, best regards, yours opjepass |

Thank you all for your positive response!
@Swindon Japster: the mounting position of the display is really great, the display is still adjustable in its position, you can turn it left, right, up and down. From the drivers seat you can see the whole display, the distance is also great because of good reachability. And the case can be closed, so you don`t see anything while the system is not in use ot the car is parked somewhere... But the position is only my favorite one, you can also mount in on top of the dashboard over the radio on the right side of the radio-display (the distance is bigger, if mounted there you have to lean forward to reach the buttons of the parrot lcd-display) or somewhereelse. Best way to find out is just to put it in the position temporarily where you would like to have it fitted (only display without the cable) and check out how satisfied you would be operating the system! And then decide for the position you like most! |

I figured it all out - it's pretty simple. PM me if you need any help.
Also have a spare SOT cable if someone wants to try this themselves. For Sale: Parrot Handsfree -> Civic Cable |

Fitting a 3100 really is as simple as is made out. Be careful when pulling at the dash and someone's post about using a plastic kitchen spatular was a great idea. Get one.
Thanks for the how-to. Brilliant |

Does the multicomm mean the steering wheel controls don't work for the CD player/radio any more or can you switch between them?

OK - another question. Where has everyone put the mic? Where's the most hidden place for the mic and how easy is it to hide high up? Can you put the cable behind the the a-pillar ok?

Cheers, is that stuck on or tucked under? Looks neater than I thought I have to admit!!
Has anyone tried putting it inside the gap where the EX phone mic should be? |

I know this guide is very helpful and I think most people are finding it easy. But would people be interested in a full step-by-step photo guide to fitting the Parrot CK3100? (well after the dash is off)

The cable is behind the rubber at the doorside.
You don't need to remove any part of the A-pillar. At the underside of the rubber you have an easy access into the dash. |
