[HOW TO] fit ignition switch blue foot lights
Note my pictures seem to be in reverse order so you have to scroll around sorry
The power for these lights comes from the cig lighter socket I installed in the fuse box area (see my how to). You could make a different harness and go straight to the back of the standard cig lighter. As these are ignition switched they just come on with the key no fancy fading but they should only cost you 10-20 pounds. First remove the under dash panels. Drivers side is covered in other how to's. Passenger side is three spring clips at the nearest edge of the panel and a sliding slot in bit and another clip at the back of the panel. Both panels have a hole in them I used this to mount my LED light units. These may be the holes for the Honda units. I put bullets on the wires from the light units so I can easily remove the panels in the future. Make sure you put the male bullet on the wire going to the positive. This means you have a female on the positive of the harness and hopefully it wont short out when its disconnected. post 2 the harness |

The harness has a pair of bulletts (female on positive wire and male on negative) at one end to attach to the passengers light, another pair of bullets (female on positive wire and male on negative) on a T piece to attach to the drivers light then bare ends that I tapped into my extra cig lighter using those crush on splice in connectors (sorry dont know there name).
The harness is 1 meter 20 cm long, its 1 meter from the passenger eng to the drivers light T piece then another 20 cm to the power end. If you were going straight to the standard cig lighter you woul need to tap the power lead off the middle of the harness and I would recomend putting an in line fuse in it somewhere. Mine extra cig lighter has a 5 amp fuse in its line and I attached this downstream of that fuse. |

Installing is easy pass the harness from drivers to passengers side behind the center console bit ( there is a small gap there honest) connect the passenger light and refit panel.
Then i connected the power end to my extra cig lighter and ty-wraped the harness up out the way, dont let it dangle around your feet. Then connect the drivers light and refit the drivers panel. Have to wait for it to get dar now to get a photo of the end result. The type of LED light you use will depend on what you can get hold of. A friend gave me mine not sure where they come from. Rember you have to connect the lights the right way round or they wont work |

thats it will add a results photo when it gets dark. If you use this and the "extra cig lighter how to" you have all the pics you need to wire it up like this or direct to the cars own cig lighter.

Here are the results. Not the best photo in the world they look better in real life. Also a photo with the footwell lights and the blue interior light on.

The Honda ones have 2 settings, bright when the doors are open, and when the lights are on they are dimmer, I suspect those are gonna be quite distracting at night, especially if you have new "bright white" trainers on.
Also the Honda ones have a fader on them, so yes I guess they are the same as Hondas £160 lights (i think)but the Honda ones are a little cleverer, if that matters. These do the same thing. |

Yes these are just on the Honda ones are much better with the dimming and the two levels of light.
They are ok driving at night, the dash is far more distracting. The bit I need to add is a switch in the line so you have the option to turn them off if you want. Big differance betwen these and the Honda ones is the cost. |
