Morimoto HID lens install into Civic FK2 headlights

Hi guys!

In this threat I will tell you how install Morimoto Mini H1 HID lens into Civic FK2 headlights.

Preparation

It is hard for me to speak in English a lot, so if you don't mind I will post the pictures with small comments and if you will give me a question I will answer it)

That's how blend must look after preparation (for left headlight).

Here is the end of preparation of mask, but A little bit later I will return to reflector modification

Install
In order to take off headlights you will need take off bumper and perspex grill at first. For this operation you will need:
1. Slotted Screwdriver
2. wrench Torks 25 (звездочка)
3. wrench 10
4. Phillips Screwdriver

I have used Civic manual, which you can download from internet, so I just put a few photos of process.

When your headlights would be on the table I will recommend you to protect glass surface from scratches and different garbage with stretch film. I have fixed it with paper scotch (later I will show my headlights with stretch film).
In order to take off glass from headlights you will need professional dryer with temperature 250C and big carton box.
Click the image to open in full size.
From the right side near the bottom you will need to make a hole for the dryer's nozzle. In order to not to spoil headlight by hot stream it is necessary to mount carton baffle (height is about 200mm). Headlights put from the left side (glass on the top). For easy disassembly headlight must be heated not less than 22minutes. Cover of the box I fix with paper tape for better heating.
Disassembly the glass start from side which is nearest to the Perspex grill. Gradually detaching locks, glass is pulled from the lamp housing and trim sealant by office knife. It is desirable to keep the native sealant for better reassemble the headlight, so you need to be accuracy and ask someone to help.

Then you will need to take off reflector from lamp housing. Necessary equipment for this operation is thin flathead screwdriver or awl and pliers with long jaws.
In order to remove the reflector from the upper clamp push the screwdriver into the hole (green arrow), and slightly squeeze the release lever in the direction of the red arrow. At the same time, it is necessary to pull a reflector to itself (from the body).

In order to remove the reflector from the bottom clamp squeeze white clamp by pliers in the direction of the arrow and pull the reflector.

After that reflector can be taken off from lamp housing.

Reflector must be modified by this way.

When you work you have to be careful, because surface marked with red arrows must not to be damaged.
From the bottom side you will need to make square hole for the solenoid. We use this hole also for wire.

At this moment all dirty works is finished, so we need to clean reflector and start to assemble the headlight.

Screw mask to the lent with screws

Dress thin silicon ring to the lens and push shutter wire through the bottom hole.

Fix lens with nut

Before reflector into lamp housing installation the last must be modified. I hope picture will explain what I mean.

After that headlight can be assembled (without glass) and mounted to the car.

If all is OK, than you can assemble lamp housing with glass. Put the glass and lamp housing to the carton box for the 25 minutes and then assemble them together.

HID Ignition block I've put to the bottom side of lamp housing by 3M scotch. For the back cover I used drill with diameter 22mm.

How much.

How much did this cost you?
And do you need to have the angel eyes part? or can you just install plain projectors?

Grayfox, for lens, masks and ignition blocks with bulbs I paid 90 pounds))) There in internet shop was many different mask for this lens, some of them was with angel eyes, but I prefer variant without it)))

tuccy29, I hope that for others it will be easier. Before installing the three weeks I was prepared mentally, because I didn't know where to start. As russian says, the eyes are scaring - hand doing (The devil is not so black as it's painted).
