im up for making one of these as ive done the av mod on the satnav screen, and soldering is what i like best. dont use scotch locks as these are not very good, as hgt has found out, and will provide an unreliable mod which you dont want. i just want to see photos of the circuit in the box and the installation points on the cars wiring.

Right i got the stuff in today. The box ordered is FAR FAR too small for the components. It wont even house the relay! Does anyone know what maximum space the box can be to fit into the door?

From what I can make of previous posts it seems people were attaching the box underneath the arm-rest on the door with the controls for windows & mirrors. I'm near sure there was a photo somewhere but I can't seem to find it anymore.
Although your idea of keeping it within the door certainly sounds alot neater but perhaps due to a lack of room that is why people have fitted it externally.
I'm sure someone that has done this before could give you better advice.

I have been talking to hgt about it. Seems fine, the box in the orginal post was the wrong size. I will post all the parts i use and hopefully will get a working box soon.

I need a guinea pig to test it out on tho!!! hehe!

Well If you don't get any volunteers with better access to their Civics I'm more than willing to help.
Like I said I'll be back home with the Civic from the 7th March for 4 weeks if thats any use, and I'll also be heading back over next weekend (15th-17th)

Re:

Had time to build one of these puppies on friday. I have tested it too, using a DC power supply-so it works fine (I dont need a 'guinea pig' anymore! hehe!).

So with parts, all-in-all i would need to sell these at 60quid all in. Anyone interested in the one i have made or any subsequent ones?

I can post pics once i have finished either tommorrow or the next day.

Robbie

Having never done it myself, i couldnt comment. But from the good description at the start of the thread- it looks really easy! (but i of course i cannot comment for anyone else, depends how technical you are really...)

Have you got a soldering iron and electrical tape?

I can include the parts so you need really need a soldering iron. I can include single unit of 'choc block' which just screw into the cable. Usually you would use 'thread lock' so that the screw doesnt work itself loose, but a tiny drop of superglue would do the trick.

I can label up each cable also to avoid confusion of where it actually goes.

Hey,

I'm still interested! Just with exams etc. I haven't had a chance to read through the instructions at the start of the thread to get an idea of how difficult it is to connect up.
I'll get a look later this evening and let you know!

Hi Robbieee

the problem, for me (no idea about others), is that whilst I very much like the idea of the mirrors folding in when I lock, there are a number of places where I normally park (works car park being worst) where I specifically don't want them to fold back out when I unlock, due to lack of space.

I would guess this also applies to people who park in smallish garages

I think we need to find a way of disabling it

Looking back through the thread, I think the power mirror switch is still connected
So, how does this button now work with the modification
