Power mirrors mod......done!

Hi,

Yesterday I completed this mod. It took about 2 -3 hours to fit and works like a dream.

I have to admit I didn't make the box of tricks (thanks gray52), my electronic skills are not what they were. The diagrams from hgt were spot on. I just needed 10 minutes to grasp what they were getting at.

I first used conector blocks to ensure it all worked and then soldered the connections once happy.

Be really carful when pulling the door apart! I didn't break any tabs but have now found out the body shop that had my car earlier this year did break the tweeter housing on the passenger side door.

All the info is here. thanks for all your help.

David

Well done David, glad you got this working. Are there any other points you watch out for during installation - where did you making the connection for the earth?

Also did the kit come with a box small enough to mount under the armrest section of the door card?

I have a circuit made up from earlier in the year but haven't managed to get it to work yet due to time contraints.

Hi,

The install was quite straight forward once I had studied the diagrams.

I connected the earth to the speaker screw. I tested the screw and it provides an earth with the door open or closed.

The circuit came in a small box which easily fitted inside the door card. Once the door card is off you will see a largish square of foam. I velcroed the box onto the top side of this. There were plenty of other places it would have fitted too.

Watch out for the black "glue". If your not careful it gets everywhere.

thats interesting that you had an earth when the door was open on the speaker screw. mine only earths when the door is closed. you may not need the switch then? just see if the mirrors still fold out as i explained in the pm's, when the door is opened.

I tested the screw with my meter and it showed no resitance between the screw and the chassis. I have tested with the door open and the door closed and got the same results. I have also unlocked the door and opened the door mid operation and it carries on regardless.

This is a great mod. I have already confused a guy at work. "Mine doesn't do that!!"

if thats the case then you wont have to extend the earth wire, just fit the switch in the door card using the earth you have and should work fine. tell you mate to get honda to have a look at it lol.
