I'm new here...
Evening folks,
New member signing in. About to pick up a new 2007 Civic Hybrid, having got rid of 2 Mercedes. Bit of a cost cutting exercise, but seeing as though one of them would have cost £500 to keep on the road at the end of the month, despite being 10 years old, and the other, although nice, not being built in the golden age of Merc making (2003) meant that it was unlikely to be one of those cars that would become a classic, albeit it was nice. So I'm onto a Nighthawk Black, with Beige leather Hybrid. I still can't believe that I'll be paying just £15 for my road tax next year, instead of a combined £410 for the Mercs. I'm also saving about £500 per year on insurance. As for fuel economy, whilst I don't expect the much vaunted 50-60mpg as advertised, anything over the 25 I got with the others will be an improvement, quite frankly. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of equipment in the hybrid, with the Auto, cruise, 6 disc CD changer, nice dash, build quality built in Japan etc etc. I believe only 1000 per year coming into the country too. I'm not sure what the general theme of the forum is, whether it's all Civic owners, or whether it's sporty oriented or not, I'm not sure, I've not really checked. It would be nice to compare notes with other hybrid users though. One final thing, although I'm a new member here, I have had a few Civics in my time. An L reg Civic 1.5 LSI, a 1.6 ESI auto, and a 1.5 5 door VTEC-E. So this is technically my 4th Civic. How many people have had 4 different Civics, and 3 different model shapes? I also had a J reg Accord too, for good measure. I got rid of that for my first Merc, but that's another story... Look forward to hearing from any Hybrid owners, or (Mods?) the grand opening of a Hybrid section of the forum.... Last edited by LNT : 24th March 2007 at 23:02. |

Thanks both for that. You're right, it would be a bit unfortunate if there was such a section with little or no posts or responses therein. Still, as time goes by, I'm sure things will change.
One thing though, will my post ratings change to a more hybrid style rating, or will I still become a triangular exhaust, or a rocket shaped door handle? |

HI LNT - welcome to the forum on this beautiful sunny day!
I hope you love yr hybrid as much as we love our Civvies. I must say that the promise of greatly reduced tax certainly would have twisted my arm... |
