Well only 1000 new Honda Hybrids in the country per year will see that we won't, although I can't speak for Toyota.

A second hand previous model Hybrid might be a sensible second hand buy though if you need a second car?

My dealer told me he could fit rear parking sensors, although the spoiler at the back is a decent indication if you can see it.

Didn't have it supaguarded, a very expensive clean if you ask me, and many others who's opinion I sought.
well the currently brochure has the 2006 pictures still in it...

well I like the original alloys. No need to change them. If the were in 16" that was better, but the aren't.
At least the wheels are alloy's by default, 'cause I hate plastic covers....

Hi. I guess we are lucky here in Ireland because we get the saloon with the 1.8 iVTEC engine. I dont think its available in the UK.

Lovely looking car, sleek and sharp. Available with 6 speed manual.

I had a Hybrid for 6 weeks and did 3000 miles and I must say its not my cup of tea. I found it unstable at speed of 85+ (I do a 40mile motorway commute every day). Economy was about 40. The engine revs were horrible if you wanted to accelerate hard to the pont of embarrasment.

If you want one I suggest its only used in its design brief of a town car (Except the boot is crap) , its not what you would call multi functional.

Of course none of the roads I drive on in the country I live (England) have speed limits which are higher than 70mph, so I have no need to do 85+ ...

I actually stick to about 60mph in cruise control if going on long journeys for example to football matches away. Last season when I had my Merc SLK travelling slightly quicker than the 70mph limit I found I just threw money down the drain in terms of fuel usage. Now I can (and have) get to London and back from where I live near the Lakes and still not use a full tank.

What beats me is WHY would anyone want to buy a Prius when you can have one of these? Just take a look at the Honda and then the Toyota.... I rest my case!

Agreed, the Prius is dog ugly, and over priced IMHO.

I approached the IMA EX with low expectations after seeing a Prius and given that I was also looking at BMW 320D I think the EX is a good car for less than 20k on the road, I've saved about 4K in tax, £300 on RFL, and am saving about £60 a week on fuel....its a winner !

It is not BMW (or VW R32 which I did own ) but its far from a tin can on wheels, Honda have wised up to getting a high basic spec to get the company drivers on board and it worked with me

I just ordered one in the same spec, colour etc.

Very excited but have to wait three months. It's going to be a company car and with me for 4 years.

The interior looks great.

If red Ken gets back in as Mayor of London and with his route of congestion charging I will almost certainly have to get a hybrid next time as I pass right past the mouth of Heathrow every day, twice.

When I dropped the car off for service I was chauffered back to work in a Hybrid and it quite comfy.

i wouldnt get too excited, the alternative fuels discount is being removed for any car registered past October this year and phased out over the next few years for those that were before.

2 of the reasons why people buy the Prius is simply that it is a hatchback and it is available.
We would have bought the Civic Hybrid had it been a hatchback but look what we got instead, a wonderful spaceship.

The Civic Hybrid will still be exempt from the congestion charge as it is under the new cut off of 120g/km. As there are so many cars now coming in less than this figure, and therefore eligible to drive into London for free, you can bet the goalposts will be moved within a year or two.

I reckon the cut off will become 110g/km rather than 100g/km in line with government policy - specifically because TFL have so many Prius' which are 104g/km. I'll put money on this! Fortunately the Civic is 109g/km.

10% company car tax band aswell!

It's on the cards for me to also go Hybrid next time.

Very impressed with the smooth CVT ride.

If they only did HID's and .MP3 (or do they?)

Don't know what an HID is, but it will play MP3 and WMA tracks on a CD.

Oh - thanks for that

I was actually reading the review of the Civic v Prius on the timesonline website yesterday and noted the negative comments (probably JC again)immediately followed by 4 or 5 user comments that the review is wrong.

All the users say that there is no noticeable jerk when it changes from electric to petrol, it doesn't sound like the clutch is continually slipping and it's a very refined car to drive.

The brochure I have doesn't state that it will play MP3 so that is a bonus. "HID" refers to the High Intensity Discharge lighting that some of the Civic models have. It's the very bright flourescent style lighting you see now on some cars. Far better than the Halogen yellow that is quite dim in comparison.

How easy is it to get at the underside of the ciggy lighter to wire in some accessories ? Or any other easily accessible power source ?
