I've had many automatics, mainly Merc and Volvo ones, although I had a Civic ESI Automatic a few years ago too. With the CVT you literally feel nothing in terms of gear change, if indeed there is one. There is a slight jerk when the engine kicks in again after turning off when stopped, but that's about it. It doesn't actually change from electric to petrol because the petrol engine is always going. It never cuts into electric only mode.

I can't advise on installing accessories I'm afraid, I'm not that technically minded in terms of adding things to cars!

i do also like this car, just a shame they couldnt fit nicer alloys tho imo

what i stuggle to comprehend is why they can put an autobox in this and not in the normal civic, the CVT is brilliant and i think honda should offer it

I was actually reading the review of the Civic v Prius on the timesonline website yesterday and noted the negative comments (probably JC again)immediately followed by 4 or 5 user comments that the review is wrong.

All the users say that there is no noticeable jerk when it changes from electric to petrol, it doesn't sound like the clutch is continually slipping and it's a very refined car to drive.

The brochure I have doesn't state that it will play MP3 so that is a bonus. "HID" refers to the High Intensity Discharge lighting that some of the Civic models have. It's the very bright flourescent style lighting you see now on some cars. Far better than the Halogen yellow that is quite dim in comparison.

How easy is it to get at the underside of the ciggy lighter to wire in some accessories ? Or any other easily accessible power source ?
HID = Xenon style lights, had them on the R32, really good and a shame they are not an option on the EX as I would have paid for them...

There is a tread on the "How To" area about a DIY HID install...not for the faint hearted from what I can see and legally a bit of minefield...

I have changed the main bulbs on my EX to something a little whiter and brighter, the bog standard bulbs are pretty crap IMHO

Electrics behind the 12V adaptor, not looked so can't really comment

Ta anyway

Got a few gizmos I will be needing to wire in but not for about 2 years (or just under now).

Having said that though, now that Boris has ousted Ken the CC strategy might change and I may be looking at another hatchback Civic.
