It would have to be a good car (so not much of a compromise, if any at all), or seriously beneficial financially.
I have had a few requests for a Hybrid section now (hence the little trial), and the UK ones are from Londoners. I'd also be interested to hear from buyers/drivers - what's the car actually like to own? |

I don't think the technology is sufficiently advanced to offer true compromise, nor is there a solid enough support network for alternate sources of energy, i.e electric motors, bio-ethanol. I think unless the government imposes stricter legislation outside of london there is no real reason (aside from a guilty conscience) to change at this stage. I do however believe it is the future and renewable energy sources are going to become more and more important.

Probably - no answer in your poll for that - however the car would have to look good as well - if, say, it looked like our spaceships, then yes I would. And then people wouldn't know whether you were green or not.....
So I've voted NO because the current hybrid is not like our cars. |

The Hybrid/4 door saloon is a very nice car, If it had the same dash as the euro Civic, I would seriously consider it!

The Hybrid was the first reason why I went to my dealer, I still like the concept, A little bit less the shape of the car and I dont like the CVT gearbox.
So I voted Yes ... |

My answer was YES a month ago
I had the previous 1.6vtec version, 3 door and I did try the new 1.8vtec 5 door, it is a great machine, but I'm not sure why I love the hybrid. The gearbox is like the top of a very nice cake. The silence, the confort, the space inside and I don't need anymore to glue my hand in the gearbox in a traffic jam. |

its now being proved that the purius is not as good as they want to make everyone think it is. it has just been told to pull one of it adds on tv as being misleading as the information contained in it was for the u.s market not the u.k, and the yanks travel approx 3 times the average of us u.k drivers.
im yet to find anyone who can answer, how much is a set of replacment batteries and were do they end up and at what cost to recycle them, as it wont be free to dispose of these. anyone with the answers then i would be glad to know. you might get cheap tax, but you aint got 140bhp under your right foot when you need it, and my trip computer is showing 53.5mpg bet the purius will struggle to get this on the runs and driving ive been doing. |

Let me say that I could buy the new Civic 1.8, but I did my choice, I also tested an Accord cdti, but I did my choice. The cars in Portugal are have a big addition with taxs and cars less musculed are not so expensive.
Anyway, I still can have 115hp when I need, I had 110hp with my old Civic and it was ok. You are maybe right about 140hp and I don't now the cost to replace the batteries, but Honda told me that these new battery set is not be replaced, these are not like the previous IMA or Toyota Prius. About the costs to recycle you are joking, of course. What about the cost with CO2 every single day? What about the cost to "recycle" the nuclear product to create your electric energy? Are you worried with that aswell? |

also would you buy an electric car at 7 years old knowing that the batteries may need replacing? these cars will suffer more depreciation on an equlivant model with a diesel engine and this will be good or 250,000 miles with no major problems. the money you save on tax will be minimal due to the cost of batteries and the money lost to depreciation.

Why buy a Hybrid?
There maybe extra benefits if you live or work within the London Road Charging Scheme, but not if you don't. It doesn't offer that much of a saving in fuel for the extra costs of extendid ownership. There is no major financial (as in Tax Holidays) benefit as a Private owner or company car user. The 2.2 Diesel is much faster and much more fun. The Body shape and Styling is Way Uncool ! ![]() The only car worth having as a Hybrid is the Lexus RX400h SUV as you win out on the cost of roadtax over any other 4x4. http://www.lexus.co.uk/lexus_cars/rx...case/index.asp |
