Totally Smitten

Hi

Took delivery of 'first' ever Honda today, 1.8 Type S GT in Blueish Silver - well actually bought for the wife but same thing really. I did not think that I would be impressed, not sure why, but being a German marque purchaser over the years, I have to admit that her - sorry (my) new car is absolutley fantastic. Only one worry, wheels. The choice made by 'you know who' was 18" sort of dark grey graphite looking wheels, look great but wonder if it was a bad decision and will impair the ride quality? Any long term owners of similar size wheels would be great thanks. Obviously dealer was happy that I paid nearly 1K for them. Anyway been looking at site and think it is a great forum area with brill advice.

Welcome to the forum.

Can't answer your question tho - I have 17" wheels and the ride can be hard but this doesn't worry me. Someone will come along soon and answer....... they are a very knowledgeable lot on here.

Welcome, had mine same spec apart from wheels for two weeks. Love it, colour is a little understated and I want to find a good wet look polish to sort that out. Then again my last car was bright orange so any colour is a little understated.

I'd say the ride isn't any harder than my Focus or a BMW sport but it is a little more crashy.

Welcome to forum. Great choice of colour. Don't forget to order your sticker to support the site which is a great resource for information and a source of considerable time wasting - spend far too much time on here.
Good advice here on getting best for colour

Thank you all, especially on the polish front. I had planned to Supagard the interior and exterior myself with separates that I have bought but after looking at Polished Bliss may go that route.

Will order sticker for support as the site has already saved me money I had planned to buy the Honda Ipod kit for iPhone and do a self install but after reading threads it appears that the Iphone will not work for music, so saved £129.....for now!

I don't recommend the supergard stuff.

Had it applied on Millie from new, cost a bomb!

It looked great initially, but started to come of after 4 months.

But hard work with some of the polishes mentioned on this site have brought Millie up to a better than showroom shine now.

Sound like 'Storms' Image:Storm.jpg - Civinfo Wiki yes they do make the ride a bit on the harsh side but I don't think it too bad! I love mine but I do like a firm ride

im sure you`ll soon discover that the look and feel of the car will soon make you forget any slight harshness from the wheel/tyre set up.not much difference in comfort from 17s anyway.hope you have fun....oh yeah, welcome.haha

I have 18" blades, can be a bit crashy on potholes but generally not bad.

Blimey, who did you deal with? We got ours from there (and countless previous Honda's) and have had excellent service. Then again, we have always used the same salesman (Gary) and have probably paid for more of his holidays than I care to think of with our comission.

Avonvale

I found the sales guy pretty good, he picked up on the fact that I hate being called "Sir" and by my surname as I spent two years working in a service dept of a dealer and had to call customers "Sir" all day!

As for servivce just booked mine in for a service and a couple of probs to be sorted on the 18th so will see what happens.

Love the car by the way!

Delt with Marcel (not a name you'd forget eaisly) and I went in as a typically "waste of time customer" but he was good, only disapointing thing is that it would have been nice to get a "everything OK call" but did get a letter from sales manager although standard I think!

Ha ha, no that name kind of sticks in your mind! I'm interested to hear how you get on on the 18th. I've never had an issue getting warrenty work done there, but I've never had a list this long in one go either! I have a feeling I may go from the "valued customer" pile to the "picky pain in the @rse" pile quite quickly. Hope the service dept don't trawl through here....

Dealt with Marcel - nice guy, the only problem was with the Finance guy, they clearly wanted me to take their finance and I did not want to go that route.

Did get a follow up call from Marcel but the whole experience was tainted by the money man - his last attempt was to sell GAP cover, just felt a bit too pushy!
