faults

hi can any one help/advise i have an 06 civic 2.2 es cdti with what seems to be a few common faults most fixed but somenot, first the boot doesnt open all way up unassited worse when cold had 2 sets of gas struts and new hinges then told its characteristic. second front tyres worn out 12000 16" is this normal. thanks poe

Hi Poe,

The gas struts are pretty much the same on all Civics, and also at least some other cars. The gas struts do not work as well in the cold.

There have been others complaining about tyre wear too, but donīt recall exact miles etc. Have you check the wheel alignment?

Poe - are you saying 2 sets of front tyres in 12K miles?

Blimey...
I thought mine was eating them fairly rapidly at 12K per set...

As per FWH's post - were they evenly worn across the tyre?

no sorry 1 set meant second fault by your reply i take it tyres last bout 12k then cheers

no worries poe

yep, I've done almost 40K miles, and my fronts lasted between 11K and 13K
Mich pilot sports lasted the longest (by a bit), but GoodYear F1s were better tyres (I think anyway), but didn't last quite as long.

lots of good tyre chat in the wheels and tyres section in here
