Hello from a very happy new owner!

Hello everyone!

Just thought I'd introduce myself as an extremely happy new owner of a 1.8 EX. I picked it up a week ago, and I absolutely love it!

I must confess that I discovered this site about a month ago, but have only now got round to saying hello. I can't believe how much information is on here - it's fantastic! Whoever set this up deserves a free car from Honda, as the information on here definitely moved me from a "hmmmm, not sure" to a "yup - I'm going to buy a civic ".

I've only found two problems so far: the first is that the dealer hasn't fitted the "anchor" for the floor mat, so it keeps riding up behind the clutch; and the second is that my Nokia N95 keeps crashing with the HFT system. I'm hoping the latter will be fixed when I get round to removing the orange branding, and upgrade the firmware. The former's going to require a trip back to the garage How easy is it to get the anchor and fit it yourself?!

fitting the anchor is pretty straightforward - the biggest issue really is making sure you / they get the right parts, as the bracket changed slightly a few months ago.

I'd let them do it though, especially as you need to pop in to get it - should only take them 10 mins, so as long as you let them know you are coming they should be able to do it there and then

Agreed, the 08 MY cars have a slightly different fitting to the 07 MY so the mats are different as well, your dealer will know which ones they are and will fit them properly in minutes. Give your salesperson a call to sort it.

Not too sure about the phone but if its the older N95 (not the 8gb version) the I think its more likely to be the software on that rather than the car system. I know you can update the phone software online via the nokia site, might be worth trying that first.

Oh dear, how embarrassing... I contacted my dealer about the anchor and they were extremely apologetic. The sales woman was going to check with the technicians etc etc, but had I checked the boot? ... Well, to cut a long story short, it was in the hidden part of the boot all along! Well, at least I now know how effective that hidden compartment is!!!

With regards to the N95, it's an orange branded N95 so yeah, the firmware's ancient! When I get a spare moment either tonight or tomorrow night, I'm going to try and unbrand and then upgrade it. I noticed the change logs of the most recent firmware (Version 20.0.0.015) still complain about the bluetooth car kit connectivity:

Hopefully it'll fix my problems though

I upgraded the phone two nights ago without having to rebrand it. The latest firmware for my orange branded n95 was v11.0.026 (it was v10.something before) and so far (touch wood), I've had no problems

I'm now a happy civic owner without any caveats!
