Hi from Sussex

Oh how I love the look the new of the new Civic. Since they first arrived, I've wanted one. Well this could be the moment. I've been down at the dealer today sorting out the figures on a brand new 1.8ES Civic.

The figures look good. I'm taking an extended test drive tomorrow. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll be able to say I've ordered it.

Possibly looking at the Royal Blue Civic 1.8 ES with space saver spare wheel, parking sensors & 8 CD autochanger. Would love the Milano Red but apparantly the dealer can't get a new one delivered and registered before the deadline for the PCP payment plan (28th March).

Regards,

Stuart

Hi Stuart & Welcome to this forum...

Just a comment (if you don't mind) regarding the 8 CD autochanger. I had what I thought was a shed load of CD's in my old car, however by burning them in WMA and MP3 format I managed to get all the CD's onto four. Just thinking of of saving you a few quid unless you already know and have other plans?

Cheers,

Bob...

Thanks guys.

I've spent the last two hours going over the finance figures making sure I can afford it. I have decided I can afford it (and the insurance ain't too bad either) so it's now down to the test drive tomorrow!

On the insurance side, can anyone give me a rough quote of what they are paying, what age and model of civic, what age of driver and which insurance company.

To start, the CIS want to charge me £506 fully comp (£100 volunatry) on a brand new '08 Civic ES. I'm 27 with 6 years NCD.

Stuart.

Hi Bob.

If the Civic ES supports MP3 support then yes that is an option. I hadn't actually checked that! Something to check tomorrow. Cheers mate, that could be £400 saved!!

Put me in front of my drawing board and CAD system and I'm fine, but burning MP3's.
Now, if someone had the time to tell me how, using XP ( in language for a 7 year old) I would be very grateful.
I have managed to convert all of my cassettes to CD, using a 2 week free trial software download though.

Stuart,
I have had my 1.8 ES for a couple of months now and of all the wonderful toys the mp3 facility has been a huge success. I don't have any problem whatsoever with the quality of the sound and 7 or 8 cd's on one disc makes it a pleasure to use (with just about enough of the tag info and filenames showing on the radio). My iPod collection is not huge so the lack of an aux in on the radio has been reasonably well circumvented by the mp3 route. Of course all the control works from the steering wheel, skip tracks or skip folders, volume etc. Very easy to use. A little delay when changing folder perhaps, but still, a very good system. In essence, you can have just about the same amount of music on one mp3 as on the 8 CD's in the autochanger and the control is very similar, you just change folders rather than CD's. This leaves the CD changer socket for a potential iPod solution at a later date too.

Wishing you every happiness with your new car !

And I'm useless with Autocad

Try this link JTL How to make an MP3 CD - Civinfo Wiki it worked for me...

Went back to the Honda dealer today to test driver the Civic again, this time on a longer run. Had someone in the car with me today who knew the back roads of Sussex (i.e. country lanes!). Spent nearly an hour driving it and got to test almost everything in car.

Anyway, got back to the showroom, took a deep breath and said those famous words - "Go for it!".

I have on order one Royal Blue Civic 1.8 ES with parking sensors and spacesaver spare wheel. I ditched the 8 CD changer since the head unit will play MP3s and I can fit 8 or 10 albums on 1 CD. Should be available for collection around the 28th / 29th March.

It's come at a perfect time really because my car needs servicing this month and MOT and Tax next month!!

Now, how patient am I?

Stuart.

Well done Stuart... Don't forget to post some pics of the new motor when you have time.. I still need to do this myself however the weather has been so bad since I picked mine up it has delayed me from taking some pics of my own!!

Good to see you made a saving on the CD autochanger...

Cheers,

Bob...

Hi Stuart, and welcome to Civinfo

Blimey, we are usually telling new members how to spend even more money on their Civic, so we must have slipped up here by saving you £400.
That has got to be worth getting a Civinfo sticker for you new spaceship
