Another 2.2 ES owner joins

Hi Everyone,

What a great site! "A problem shared is a..." and I have certainly recognised some of the problems I have had/got on this forum. Even so what a great car and engine! Just need to upgrade the front speakers so I can have a great sound as well. I have already found the thread on this topic. I'm over in the Forest of Dean, had the car since March and have done almost 12000 miles; first service almost due! Despite the problems listed below I do love this car.

Problems had and fixed:
Rear Shocks (Known Problem)
Squeaky front windscreen(Known Problem)
Fuel flap sticking (twice adjusted by garage, still not fixed and getting worse again)(Known Problem)
Split in front windscreen - damaged during manufacture and replaced FOC

Problems I have:
Car pulls to the left - 16"standard alloys fitted (though I would have loved an upgrade)
Cigarette lighter socket pulls out - not an issue though
Pitted front alloys from brake pad dust (not sure u can do much about this though)
Drips from the rear hatch when wet (seems like a design issue)
Still have one or two noises/rattles but need to remove all contents to see if it's my junk or the car!!!

Sorry rather a long hello!

Hi, and welcome, Barryjm. You should feel right at home here now that you've sorted most of the teething problems.

Enjoy.

You sure the pulling to the left is not a camber issue>?

Possibly, however, it seems very consistent no matter the type of road. Still, it's ideal when travelling on a slight left hand bend as the car steers itself !

I will try driving on the wrong side of the road at some stage to see if the adverse camber affects it. Just thought - a trip to Europe would do as they drive on the wrong side Sorry... just read some banter on another thread about this.

Welcome Barryjm. I had the shocks replaced, and we all get the shower

when we open the hatch. But apart from the odd rattle, thats it.

Hi Barry, and welcome to the site.

All of the things you mentioned are pretty common.

Regarding your alloys, have a gentle word with the service manager at your dealer, mention the pitting, and if you and him work on it, they could be replaced under warranty. If you give them a good clean first, and say that you try to clean them regularlly, you may make some progress.

Nothing ventured blah blah
