Hello from Bris, AU

Hi all! I have been lurking for a few weeks, very, very informative and great site! I picked up my spankers NHB type R on the 18th of last month, and put 1000k's on it the first week I had it!

I came from a 350z, and I have to say, I am surprised with just how much I enjoy driving this thing, I do miss rwd, but I've taken this for a couple of runs now, and it's really impressed me with how well it handles, both in the wet and dry! I just have to learn to get my thrills going downhill instead of up

As for the refinement, well hell, there's really no comparison. I guess the loud exhaust on the Z didn't help, but then neither did the NVH! It was just a real laborious car to drive, esp around the city, vibes through the whole rev range, pain to change gear, heavy as clutch, felt like you had to muscle it around corners, where as this thing it's just snick snick, flicks in corners like nothing, nice refined ride, and so quiet (comparatively)! Love the vtec note too. Doesn't really have the power of the z, which I do miss a bit, but i also think power is a relative thing. I've had a couple of turboed cars and you're always longing for more, so I think that's just something I'll get over eventually. Power costs tooo much money.

Saying that though, there have been plently of times where I've flicked it back a gear to fire through a corner and come out the other side laughing because I'm so impressed by how well it handles! The only thing I would wish for is that they came with an LSD standard, there's just the odd occasion where the inside wheel loses traction on uneven surfaces that takes the edge off things a bit. Other than that, pretty damn happy with my purchase!

I'm looking at just doing a couple of basics to it and leaving it at that. Going to paint the stock wheels black (I think), and put a couple of subs where the spare is, I'm a big fan of keeping everything completely functional and practical after having a car where it was an effort putting my work bag in the car

Anyway I could ramble on and on. I'll catch ya round the site

Welcome to the site, jezzerr. Great to hear your reactions to the car. I also have the NHB and I am not so sure, myself, whether the black wheels work on the NHB. For me, it kind of makes the car disappear a bit and the silver lifts it. I was very surprised when I tried it out on Photoshop to see what it would look like. Having said that I know others have done it and have been very pleased with the result so all I am saying is to have a good look first, find pics of it and make sure you are certain that it works for you If so then great, go for it :

Hey jezzerr...

A fellow Bris Vegas resident!

Welcome... I've had mine since 29th Feb and I'm still grinning...

Which dealer did you get yours from and did they do the right thing by you? I got mine from Northside Honda in Nundah...

(just thought about it... if I picked mine up on the 29th Feb does that meant it only gets a year older every leap year?)

-H

PS: 100th post! Now my nuts lock!!!

1st post, couple pics of my FN2

The pics in that thread are the ones that convinced me black wheels are on the list of mods

Hi Harlequin I got mine from southside, pretty decent deal too... apart from the part where all the Honda paperwork said it was an 08 build (which I stipulated), and it had a December 07 plate on it, which I only noticed when I got it home... wasn't happy at all. Turns out there was a glitch in Honda's database, and it affected quite a few cars. They fixed it by removing the build date information from the database! lol.

Southside looked after me though, and they were very understanding. It was an honest mistake so I couldn't really hold the dealer accountable. got $500 of servicing and extended warranty from Honda, and an ipod adapter and a couple of the nice keyrings from the dealer, though i read on here that the adapter isn't quite as good as it could be. better than nothing though. I hope...

Not so impressed with Honda's paint resilience so far, and what's the deal with having a white undercoat! I found a nice chip in the bonnet yesterday... I then proceeded to give the bonnet a few coats of polish to see just how deep I could get the shine - nice! So, slightly chuffed, I head off to pick up the other half and on the way home on the gateway, following not too closely behind a ute because I dont want any more chips, of course, a rock the size of a 10 cent piece gets kicked up, defies gravity and lands smack in middle left of the bonnet, putting 2 more chips about a foot below the other one. So now I have 3 nice white marks in my bonnet that stand out like dogs balls whenever it is clean. Pissed off.

But anyway, I seem to be seeing alot more of the rockets since i've had one, guess not many of them are on this site though.

Catch ya around the traps

Wow really happy now. Just got a dent in the bonnet from another bloody rock! Within 100m on the gateway of where I got the other chips a couple of days ago! unbelievable. buy my first ever brand new, black car, and get two of the worst chips I've ever had, and a DENT, which I've never bloody had. Hopefully thats the last of some greater power telling me not to be so caring for my car. Unless the polish is some kind of rock magnet or something!

grrr!

I was at La Dolce Vita for a coffee at about 10PM last night and saw a NHB parked out the front...

Anyone on here?
