Hi guys!

Hi guys. My name's Carl and I am expecting to be receiving a 2.2 Type-S 3dr GT diesel very soon. I currently have a mk4 Supra twin turbo, but the running costs for my work mileage are too high now so the missus will be using that for the school run and going to work - we've been looking to replace her ancient scrap 3-series anyway.

I'm really quite excited and can't wait. I had a play in a Type-R and was very very tempted by that (it's cheaper on Contract Hire than the diesel at the moment), and in fact still am every time I see the interior, but I took a 5dr 2.2 diesel out for a drive and was seriously impressed by the engine, driving position and general feel of the car. To sit in and drive, it felt much like the Supra, not like some boring normal car.

Thanks for having me on your forum. I was pleased to see the "no txt spk" in the welcome message, and this looks like a great forum, much like mkivsupra.net .. full of proper people and friendly too from what I can see.

Hope to have pictures of my Civic soon

Thanks FWH

The reason I didn't go for the Type-R was because of economy obviously.. if they did the Type-R with the diesel engine I'd have been all over it!

£220/month + vat for a Type-R on a 2yr 10,000 mile deal. The 5dr diesel was more than that, and this Type-S GT diesel is £264 or something. Surprising eh?

You'll love the 2.2 I am sure - maybe next time you can get a Type R

The thing I really like about the Type-R is the interior. The engine doesn't bother me so much because the Supra has something like 380bhp already and we're keeping that so I still have a catapult car for weekend and whenever I feel like it. I just wish the Type-S was as sexy inside as the Type-R, and had colour coded body bits.
