Hi all - another new owner/poster

Hi everyone

Picked up my (well its for the Mrs) new 1.8 Type S GT on Monday and although we have only had it for a few days and covered few miles, I thought I would share my opinions/views with you.

We planned to buy a new car later in the year, but as soon as we saw the car in the showroom in gleaming Milano Red, we had to do the deal.

Pros
1) The Civic is the best looking car in its class - far better than offerings from Ford, Vauxhall, Peugeot etc - only the Leon can match the car in the looks department.
2) Very good specification - love the glass roof, sporty seats and great looking alloys
3) Very spacious - loads of room in the back for the kids
4) Spaceage dashboard
5) Good sized boot - massive with the seats down

Cons
1) The rev counter screen is scratched - I assume the valeters did it whilst applying supaguard treatment. Took it back to the dealers this morning, and although they have agreed to replace it, a dashboard should not be that flimsy - I have never known a scratched dash in all my years of car ownership.
2) The paintwork on the outside of the car appears fine, but on the inside of the doors it looks like it has been sprayed with an aerosol, is dull and looks like Honda don't apply any lacquer to it - very poor quality!
3) Seats don't appear to remember their position - Is there something we are doing wrong?

Dealer
I was quite pleased with the deal offered/haggled, dealer relatively friendly and helpful but on handover they really went overboard on 'telling' me what to say to Honda - very good is not good enough apparently!

This forum
Great forum - Wish I had found it before I did the deal as it would have made me look at things closer (especially paintwork and dash)

Overall, I will not be the main driver of the car (have new 3 series M Sport) and I have to admit that that does disappoint me a little, as the Civic looks like it will be a fun car to drive and handle, and it is a really good looker!

Happy driving!

Thanks for the responses.

Dimply Red - from Stoke on Trent
Dave525 - It is the dash that lets down the Leon - we traded in an old shape Leon and it was a great car, extremely reliable - hope the honda is just as good if not better on the reliability front.

Thanks

Hi and Welcome.

I think the civic is a great car and even though there are many issues with it, with many reported on here, I think this is the same for all cars today.

I hope you enjoy your car and enjoy driving it - it's really something special.

I'll start waving at Milano CTS's then, if they wave back I'll know it's you.
