hello, i think i want a Civic!
hey everyone, i'm looking at buying a new car and fancy a nearly new Civic.
would anyone advise against it?! i think i'd be after a 1.8 petrol... so i guess i have to ask the obvious questions like what are the things to look out for when buying a nearly new Civic... how much should i be looking to spend... what spec would/model would you recommend, etc.? cheers everyone! |

HI Secretmachines,
WElcome to Civinfo. I have had my car for about 6 months and I am loving it. I have the 1.8 Ex version and I am really liking it. Take some time to read the forum and especially the wiki section Main Page - Civinfo Wiki this will help you with a lot of info. Choice of car is really for you to decide but if you like gadgets then the higher specs are recommended. I would recommend the civic without question. Happy reading! |

Hi and welcome to civinfo
Happyman has given some good advice there. I like the three door civics, so my choice in a 1.8 would be the Type S. Regarding price we have a number of online dealers that may be of use to you once you decide which model, spec and options you would like. Take a look here: Commercial - Civinfo but shop around on the internet and do some research to find out who is offering the best deals. Have fun looking |

thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
i think i'd like a 5-door, i have to think practically... though the way the new Civic is styled, i don't think the 5door looks much bigger than the 3door. i'll have a read over those links, thanks guys! |

i think i'd go for either the Sport, ES or EX...
apart from mileage / wear / cost... would there be much difference between say a 55-plate ES and an 07-plate ES? |

The main difference would be that many of the 'problems' of owning a new model have been ironed out in the newer versions. After that it's down to cost I would say.

do you know of any of the 'common problems' that were widely experienced in the earlier models? |

Don't be alarmed when you read through the list if faults, they are not applicable to all civics. Some cars have had a few, some the odd one. They are just a collection that have been reported by all the members on here.
I am very pleased with mine |

Hi!
Welcome to the site! Totally agree with HM and DR! Whatever specs you choose, it definitely is a great car! After more than a year of ownership I still occasionally struggles against the need to take the detour back home! |
