I'm using Southern Counties as I work at Gatwick. They seem OK, although weren't very flexible with my [admittedly poor ] bartering attempts. The salesman was very honest about things, which I found pleasing. They have recently gone from being an independant family-run place to part of the national chain. The good thing is that this has dropped a load of used prices by a lot, which has enabled me to pick up a blinding offer on my ES...

Go for the second hand one if the new motor is priced too high.

I would think that all the currents Civics, inc most of the diesels, would have had all the nasty bits tweaked out of them by now, and if not you can check with the stealer at sale time.

Got to be Milano don't forget!

Good news chaps, I've paid for my little lady and will collect her on Wednesday when I'm back in the country.
(Happyman, if you're near Krakow on Monday or Tuesday and fancy a beer, let me know )

She is a '06 Alabaster Silver 2.2 CDTi ES. She has an impressive 56k on the clock but given it's a diesel and supposedly one of the best engines ever built, I'm sure she's barely even run in yet! I drove her twice (I made sure one of the drives was from a cold start) before commiting and even had a comparison run in a brand new demo car. The only difference I found was the tightness of the clutch. I was pretty happy with that! It had a full 55k service yesterday and I managed to negotiate them into replacing the well worn front brakes before I collect her.

Now just a long weekend's wait....

Welcome Ben and well done on your purchase!

To while away the lloooooooonnggggg weekend and monday, and Tuesday.... you could study the posts on cleaning/waxing etc, and spend a pleasant few hours buying everything!! - that'll take care of 1/2 a day.... - then you could order your sticker.... and spend the rest of the time on this splendid site.

Haha! Cheers for the heads up! Unfortunately, I have spent the last few weeks reading up about the car so that may not take so much time up... Luckily I'm in Poland until Tuesday visiting my girlfriend, so that will take my mind off it a little. The only problem will be the fact that she is just as excited as I am!

As for the sticker, I was at work earlier so I couldn't get it ordered. I'm going to do it right away now!

Although she is just standard at the moment, I guess I should post a picture for you all. Here you go:

Click the image to open in full size.

When I pick her up on Wednesday, provided the weather is good, I'll take her out for a decent photo shoot and get some slightly more interesting pictures.

I think I would like to get a better looking Honda front bumper at some point (and eventually skirts and rear), colour-coding and some nicer standard alloys. I don't want to chav her up but make her look a little more sleek, hence keeping things to standard Honda issue. Silver looks ace even with just an image pack colour coded, so that is probably what I will aim for.
Any recommendations?

Looks like a really nice car.

I agree colour coding would look good and maybe some 17" wheels as they fill the wheel arches better and look at bit more sporty

Thanks R-2. Given her mileage, she is in really good condition. Once the bank account has settled down again, I'll start hunting for some secondhand 17s and some extra bodywork.

Hello Ben,
That is how my car used to look.
Colour coding does look a lot better.

Sorry to blow my own trumpet here, but if you look at silver cars in the photo collections of the colours on the wiki, the side on view is my 'old' sport (last photo). It had accord 17" wheels and a spoiler.

Well, I received my Civic yesterday. Awesome.... I love it!

And extra good news, an image pack front bumper arrived by courier too (I got a second-hand one from ebay. It is in good condition and as I intend to colour code eventually, it seemed a bargain at £60! )!

I'll get some pictures up as soon as I get a chance to clean her after last night's storms (What a waste of a valeting! )

*Mmmmm..... contentment.....*
