Greetings from West Sussex!

Hello all!
Im on the cusp of getting myself a lovely new style Civic. I was searching for an owners club for weeks and just happened to stumble across this accidentally. And bloody glad I am too! I don't think I could ever be comfortable owning a car without a community of support around too. Anyway, I digress....

I'm 26 and live in Billingshurst, West Sussex..... Erm.... Hobbies, I fly aircraft during my spare time, as well as motorcycling, running, tweaking my Honda CRX track toy, and a few other less significant pastimes.

Whilst I'm still looking for my dream car, I have a question:
What kind of price range would you expect a '06 2.2 CDTi ES in Alabaster Silver to go for at a dealer, with 55k on the clock? Also, would you guys consider this mileage worthy of caution?
(I'm thinking diesel + the fact it is one of the best engines ever made makes 55k not a problem)

Anything else you want to know, just ask away!

Hi and welcome Ben

I wish you luck in finding your new car. I think mileage has to be taken into consideration at some point but maybe not a two year old car. I think it's essentially what you are happy with that is the most important.

Any questions do ask but if you have the time do take a tour through the wiki section which holds a lot of information

Hello all, and thank you for the welcome!
Happyman - Czesc!*

I am aware that 55k is quite a high mileage, however, I might be able to get my hands on quite a nice car within a realistic price range. Given the model is only 2 yrs old anyway, the best source of advice is you guys (as the dealers wouldn't really know, even if they would say be honest!).
I'd be going in at under 9k I think. I saw that Parker's showed £9.2k for a poor quality private sale, so under 9k seems like a good area to aim at. The biggest obstacle now is waiting for the bank to confirm my loan... then I will buy my stickers and become a fully fledged member!

*My girlfriend is Polish so I spend a LOT of my spare time in Krakøw

Edit:
I made sure that I took out a brand new demo car just after to compare them, and yes, she seems well cared for. That amount of miles in a 2yr car must be mostly motorway, or at least a large proportion, so I'm not too stressed about it. In fact, I'd be more concerned about a Type R with less miles!
Keep your fingers crossed for me!!
As for the wiki... I've been reading that for a few days now. It's superb and exactly what I was hoping I'd find!
Robbieee - Crawley?: Never mind... I lived there too for a short while.

Now that makes 2 of us! As for my Polish being better... that I doubt! Maybe you can give me some tips on how to remember all the irregularities?! Whereabouts are you then? Asia's family live near Bielsko in the South. It's great as it provides perfect mountain access, plus superb food and copious amounts of great beer (Zywiec, of course!!).

I like Zywiec ( but it helps my bowel movements a little too much for some reason ) I also like Lech, Okocim and others. Although Vodka is becoming a part of my drinking more and more .

I live in the city Wroclaw which is about 260km away from you!

Avoid Honda Lindfield

Bad things about this garage. Plenty of others in West Sussex.

Not just my view, either, I learned from other members on this forum that it is not a typical, excellent Honda dealer but a typical bad "take-their-money-now-@$%&-off" dealer.

Hi, I'm in West Sussex. Haywards Heath area and can highly recommend avoiding Lindfield Honda, they are shockingly bad.

Cheers Randomjointer. I am generally going through 'Gatwick' (Crawley - funny how they use Gatwick to make it sound more 'executive' ) or Worthing. I will avoid them like the plague, in this case!! Thanks for the heads up!!

If you are near Worthing, Honda Littlehampton are without doubt the best garage I've been to in 30+ years of motoring. Not expensive either and open to negotiation over things. Honda Brighton run a close second best.

Gatwick Honda appears to be a new name for Southern Counties Honda who have always been on the ball whenever I have used them.
