Hi... yet another newbie !

Hi all.... I'm Steve, 48 yrs, from Leeds, UK.

Just thought I'd say hello to you all as I've been browsing the site for several days and found it very useful. I'm retiring at the end of the year and will be treating myself to a new car. I've never owned one from new so I thought I would spend some time looking round at what's on offer.

At first it was going to be either Focus St or a Golf Gti or 2.0l diesel with all the trimmings. However having paid a visit to my local Honda dealer I have fallen under the spell of the Civic Type R GT ! Had my test drive yesterday and loved the car.

So I hope you don't mind me picking your brains in the forum !

Hi and welcome to civinfo.

Same thing happened to me with the CTR. This is common and is nothing to worry about.

Whatever questions you have there is always someone on here who can answer them for you.

If you buy a CTR you won't regret it. I didn't - love it

Im not sure. IF, and its a big if, I can hold out I might try to go for the new reg on March 1st but it seems so far off its depressing !
I will see what deals the dealers have on as I hear you can pick up pre registered ones for a good discount.

Welcome to the forum Cush, you can always pop down to the Yorks/Lancs meet and talk to some CTR owners in the flesh, kick a few tyres ect not to far from Leeds.

Retireing at 48???

Hope that is because you're rich and not in any ill health!

You must settle for a Spaceship!

There is only one colour on option now and that is the Milano one.

Lucky really as it is the best colour anyway!

If and when you've signed on the dotted line, have a bash at:

......every little helps!

As Charles says, hope it's for the right reasons, cause if it is, I'm envious!

Lol...yes it is for the right reason...... Ive done my 30 yrs in da force and now I can retire with a decent pension. I plan to have a year off before looking for a part time job and in the meantime I'm gonna enjoy myself. I've given myself 20 grand to buy a toy, hence the interest in the Type R. If after 12 months I find it too expensive to run I can always part ex it against something else (such as the 2.2 desiel) These last four months are going to drag !
