Hi

I'm looking to get a new car for 07 and the Civic Type S diesel is in the frame. I got a test drive next Saturday at the local Honda garage.

I'm going to see if they will trade in on my 99 Impreza Turbo. I have decided against a Type R as I want to do a lot more travelling and the extra mpg on the diesel is what I am after.

Regards

Digi,

You should really enjoy the diesel - when you drive it imagine even more grunt midrange (just how it will be when you get it chipped...)

Hey guys, thx for the welcome. I am looking forward to next Saturday, even the gf is coming along as she like the look of the Civic. I even mentioned it to my dad that I'm taking a 2007 Civic for a test drive and now he wants to come along.

I've been reading lots on this site tonight, and picked up lots of great info. Many regards to everyone. I'll keep you updated with how I get on, I love my Scooby but it is time to move along.

The i-Shift is brilliant, but a single test drive is not really long enough to appreciate it. I love mine.

When you get used to it you have several choices of driving style to choose from; relaxed and easy (in stop/start traffic) when you let the computer do all the work, fast accelleration easing off as it changes gear (as you would in a manual) or fast and sporty using the gear or paddle shift (when you feel a bit of a rush coming on) or a combination of all three as you can switch between auto and manual whilst on the move.

Wonderful.

surely when it is in auto mode you can keep your foot planted
as in a normal auto

You can, Brodick, but you have the option of various driving techniques with the i-Shift, which is the plus feature. Unlike a 'normal' auto this system has the standard gearbox and clutch but the clutch is operated by the computer.

Yesterday, when I drove back from town, I kept my foot steady on the accelerator, super smooth ride but I had other options available should I have chosen to use them.

Car ordered

After two test drives, I have placed an order for a Type S GT + Sat Nav + HFT, 18" Storms in NHB. Delivery sometime in April, which isn't too bad a wait, I had to wait six months for my current car.

Roll on Spring.

Wink

Hi digipeep, can I be cheeky and ask if you managed to get anything off the list price of the Type S GT?

I'm interested in the Type S and wondered if they were offering any discounts, bearing in mind that it is a new mode and will be popular.

I'm sure the time will soon past and then you will be able to enjoy your new car!

I didn't get anything off the list price and didn't really expect to with a new model like this. Maybe if I was buying in 12 months time I would have haggled harder. Saying that though the dealer was £500 better on the trade in value of my Scooby.
