Hello indeed.....

Nice to meet you all, now I have proof that other civic owners have the same probs as I, namely;

car pulls to left and wheel does a quarter turn to left during the last 5mph to zero, doesn't matter whether left or right camber... (booked to go to honda uk on wednesday)

strange whislting noise that eminates from the front left hand side of cockpit,

Loose gear knob

Filler cap that wouldn't open (sorted now)

intermittent stutter at low revs when gently accelerating in gears 3 and 4

drinks oil (oil lamp on at 4800 miles)

interesting creak from rear left of car when reversing off my drive

overpowered tweaters that drown out any bass

low mpg despite not using aircon hardly at all

top of my head, that's the list..

now off to the dealer to bang my head on a wall for a bit.

Yes thats the general feeling on the car, I've been lucky so far (touching wooden desk) but sadly the faults are still there, gradually disappearing as new models, warranty work is done! I see us as pioneers!

Hi Phil,

Some items on the list are definitely wrong, but some are "features". The pulling to the left and the whistle are wrong, but with luck the dealer should sort it.

The poor bass is simply because the door makes a terrible cabinet - turning the treble down and bass up helps, but really a sub is the only way forward. The gear knob can be tightened by just screwing it on more, and the creaking (assuming it's just once, first thing in the morning) is to be expected from the torsion beam rotating for the first time.

Assuming the car is a 1.8, the stutter is the VTEC moving the cam - see here:
Slight hesitation around the 2200 RPM

The oil and fuel consumption may be related (the oil consumption is well within limits and the fuel consumption is not affected noticeably by the aircon), but are possibly the result of a very cautious running in (and lots of motorways at the beginning). Driving the car like you ride your bike for a bit might help.

I do drive almost like i ride ( obviously no knee down and a lot slower but hey, that's cars for you), but only if the missus not in with me heheheeee

I thought the stutter would be around 4500 when the cam drops in.... not less than 2000 but hey, It's only just noticeable. and the creaking is every time i reverse off the drive, no matter how many times i do it that day (I have to reverse with full right hand down and over a small lip on the drive)

There is bass as the MOS 2007 clubbers guide demonstrates just when the treble kicks in, it is way too much, maybe the crossover needs tweakin' i dunno, already got a speaker upgrade waiting to be done at base audio, they seem to think they can sort it, without a sub so good for the pocket.

i have this too:

interesting creak from rear left of car when reversing off my drive

but i have a subwoofer and an amplifier build in the back, so i thought that was the problem. but i hear it only once and then it's gone

well last week when the car went in for the second time about this problem, they checked the tracking and brakes, then changed the alloys and tyres but to no avail, the head mechanic said the pull was still there so booked into honda uk (not the dealer) for a four wheel alignment and adjustment. They will also put the car on a jig... erk.
There has been an issue with slipped belts inside the tyres that can cause pull, which is why they try new wheels and tyres.......

Fingers crossed for today and that honda can sort it out..
