bought my Civic today!
Another future Civic driver in the Netherlands. Today I signed for a Civic 1.4 i-DSi Sport in the Vivid Blue color and they expect to deliver it in the last week of March. I am already looking forward to it!
Right now I drive a 1998 Civic 1.8 VTi 5-door and my dealer give me a good deal on this one. If the new Civic gives me the same pleasure and trouble-free driving like my old one, then I am a happy man! |

Hi Peter,
Welcome to the Forum - How did you find the 1.4 engine? some people seem to like it others prefer the 1.8 |

Hi Brodick,
I drive them both. A 1.8 Executive back in April 2006 and a 1.4 Comfort a few weeks ago. With the 1.8 my first impression was "where is the power?" I felt to be a bit sluggish and noisy. So I was a bit dissapointed with that and I always though that the 1.4 would be even worse. But after driving it I feel the 1.4 is a more quiet car and up to 80km/h also responsive enough for me. In performance it is a big step down from my old VTi (170hp to 83hp) but the feel of the new Civic is wonderful. I also ordered a styling kit which makes the two black plastic covers of the exhaust into the two chrome covers of the 1.8 engine. When I get the car I will post some pics of it! Greetings, Peter. |

Welcome PeterT!
I'm sure the next month will drag for you until you get your hands on your CIVIC. I've had mine for 3 1/2 months - I bought a demo car as couldn't/didn't want to wait three or four months!! |

Welcome to the forum PeterT.
No power on the 1.8? I assume you know you have to rev it to go off... At low revs it is not fast, but with high revs, I am absolutely pleased... |

As you all can see I currently drive a 1.8 VTi 5-door and I think I know you need to rev the engine for getting the horses out, but still I feel the 1.8 in the new Civic is a bit sluggish compared to the old 1.8.
The diesel is the best one but in Holland the government ask absurd taxes for driving a diesel...... so a 1.4 it is. |
