Collection Today !!

Well I can finally pick up my new car this afternoon, and then I will be a proper member of this forum.

Can't wait.

Does anyone know any new (model 07) issues I should look out for in addition to the New Car checklist from the Wiki ?

You're gonna miss the Monaco Grand Prix.

You'll be be out there in your Space Ship, pressing buttons, turning knobs and attracting admirers all over the weekend tho'.

Hopefully it'll understand my voice commands and I won't have to press too many buttons.

It won't understand your voice commands,

......unless you wish to go to MacDonalds in Calais.

......and you wont be able to keep your fingers off those buttons!

......and there is all that cleaning, with your sticky finger marks everywhere!

Hey mmw109, hopefully you won't have many (if any) problems.

Good luck!

Well,
so far it's driving fine but ...

The arm rest on the drivers door is already looking worn from where I rest my elbow (less than 200 miles)
The brake discs look awfully brown, almost rusty.
The rear camer is pretty much useless in the rain (it fogged right up).

I'm not sure whether the last two are normal, or whether I need to go back in to the dealer.

Mine are always rusty.

I believe that it is because that that type of steel gives a greater stopping power than stainless steel

Should have paid the 7k and got the ceramic ones!

Cheers,

I just thought I ought to check. It's a shame though, it woudl be nice to have all shiny wheels.

Dont have the camera so cant comment on that but are you serious about the arm rest looking worn? I have only done 400 miles in a 2 week old civic and I'd be pretty pissed off if the leather started to look worn after 200 miles thats ridiculous!

I've driven 8500 miles with mine since end December 2006, no problem so far. The tissue inside still looking good (I've cleaned it only once including the armrest).
The Brake discs are in Graphite cast Iron (Cheaper to produce than steel but with better results), which is prone to surface rust, will be cleaned next time you will use your bakes. Just noticed that parts in the channel tunnel and in the london Underground are made in the same material .

For the rear camera, just clean the lense and put some Rain-x on it. It will protect it.

For the interior cleaning use only vacuum for the mats and microfiber for the dashboard, nothing else or you will scratch it !
