Can't believe the washer's have lasted this long as I'm always using them to keep my windscreen spotless when driving - you've reminded me to top them up this weekend though

Same here, not been under the bonnet of mine. I'm also amazed how long the washing fluid lasts.

I've done this since the early 90's on every car I've owned. Before that I used to press down on the bonnet to close it, until I put a lovely dish in the bonnet of my 2 month old Astra SRi

It does clunk when you drop it, but it's the best way!

Bonnets appear flimsy nowadays, but its to do with crumple zones in an accident. They are designed like that. Best bet is to drop it as instructed.
