Hello from Birmingham

Hi there!

Have just ordered a Civic 2.2ctdi EX and am counting the days till it arrives.

I've gone for Galaxy Grey & added parking sensors as an option.

It feels like the run up to christmas!

I've even made a photo of the dashboard into a screensaver - how sad is that lol!

Colliers, Avonvale or Brindley Honda?

Avonvale. Are they OK? The guy I've been dealing with has been great - he even matched the Broadspeed deal including a reasonable p/x. Have not gone for GAP Insurance or Supaguard.

Thanks for the warm welcome by the way. This site has given me some excellent questions, and I shall be taking the fault checklist with me when I go down to collect it in a week or two.

Reading some of the posts about scratched dashes, insensitive Radio tuners and diesels burning oil has been a bit disconcerting. I'm hoping that all brand new cars suffer a few teething troubles & that Honda isn't as bad as most.

That Superguard desision was correct.

'A week or two?'

'A week or two?'

Most guys here get the delivery down to the nearest five minutes!

Welcome to the site anyway.

......and those parking sensors are a lot cheaper than a new rear end!

Well it's arriving at Avondale on 12th June, but then they have to fit the parking sensors, and as it stands I can't access my funds till 19th June - although I'm hoping to do something about that!

Yeah I thought superguard sounded very expensive for what it was.

Do you know where I can get some decent car mats for the civic?

Chat up your dealer, but maybe its a bit late for that now.

Me and several others around here got them thrown in by the stealer for free.

Halfords do a good range, and their prices haven't been Hondaised.

Thanks Charles. I've had their mats before but they never quite seem to fit. Worth a go anyway.

Cheers

Glad I'm not the only mad one!

The only 2 things that concern me are the rumours of diesels burning oil after 500 miles and the easily scratched dashboard that some say appears scratched from new . You'd think they'd have changed it for a more durable plastic by now.

And do you get locking wheel nuts? I read on here that you don't, yet the bloke at one Honda dealership in Coventry said that you do!

I went for Colliers as they simply offered me a better deal than Avondale or Brindley Honday. YMMV!

In terms of mats, I splashed out on the Honda ones. Not cheap @ £60 but they look good.

If you read the threads here you will note that most of the "common" faults only apply to 06 cars. A generalisation I know but I have has no problems with my 07 Civic.

Tempting fate.....

Got them on my Millie.

No one even mentioned it.

Stealer or me!

I just noticed them the day after she had been picked up.

It wasn't listed on the invoice anyway!

Nother thing for the 'haggle' list eh?

What a day!

Said goodbye to my Clio and hello to the spaceship at 11 this morning.

Free car mats without me asking, along with locking wheelnuts - he even threw in the spacesaver spare for nothing (originally said he'd do it for half price!).

I've been driving around with a big grin on my face all day. This car is amazing!

Still trying to get my sense of width on it though. Am doing all my parking etc... extra carefully.

Just out of interest, for my forthcoming trip to Slovenia I have taken out european breakdown cover with the AA. It appears however that with the 3 year Honda Assist it covers breakdowns on the continent.

For this reason I'm wondering if I should cancel the AA cover and save myself a couple of quid!
