HELLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Folks.

Been a 2006 Civic owner for three months. I have the 1.8 I-VTEC SPORT in Alabaster Silver with 18 Alloys.

Previoulsy owned a 53 and 55 plate CIVIC TYPE R in Nighthawk Black, which in my opinion is an absolutley amazing car. Had to get rid as starting a family now and the lack of doors at the back meant I would have trouble ahead with kiddy seats.

Anyway, hope to have many long discussions ahead with all the other lucky people who decided to get such a cool car.

Welcomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Lovedog, glad to have you on board, hopefully you will find some constructive stuff on here, if not theres plenty of banter to be had, especially between the Galaxy Grey bunch and the Nighthawk Black mob, sounds more like something from West Side story than a forum, but there are a few issues with which is the most common, I mean popular.

Having not had a Type-R I can neither congratulate or commiserate with your VTEC, although the rear doors on the 5 door must be great to get baby and stuff in and out of.

You might wanna give your keyboard a clean, I think one or two of the buttons are sticking.

Welcome you dirty 'ol lovedog!

How is the ride on the 18"s? I'm also getting a (left-hand drive) 1.8 i-Vtec Sport soon (although the "Sport" designation in mainland Europe seems to be a mix of the UK's Sport/ES models). And, in Alabaster Silver too! So good choice there!

I've specified mine with 17" rims as I thought 18"s might make the ride too hard and the handling a bit skittish. Hence, it'll be good to get your views, seeing as you've had the car for 3 months.

jayt43,

I have come from having a TYPE R where the ride was hard, and the 1.8 sport is not as harsh a ride as that baby.

The ride is firm, but I think it is pitched just right, not to firm, not to soft.

Havent really had the confidence to through the car into corners yet, but I have had a few nice moments around roundabouts recently where the car has been glued to the road!!!!

The main thing the 18" wheels give you is a better look for the car overall as they fill the large wheel arches nicely.

Yes, agree with you there Mr Lovedog. The 18" wheels certainly fill the Civic's large arches rather well (with the 17" wheels looking a bit puny in comparison). Guess I bottled it when I signed on the dotted line , especially as I liked the look of those 18" storms! Still, happy with what I've getting. Any hesitation with the i-Vtec as some others have reported here?

yes you do get a bit of hesitation, but thats the drive by wire system and the engine management keeping exhaust emmisions down. I find once you get used to the car its a lot of fun.

Oh and by the way, if you decide to go for 18" wheels in the future you should opt for the ALTIMO's, a lovely set of wheels.

Welcome to the site Mr Lovedog. Great to hear you're enjoying the car, especially after the Type R. And another fine colour choice I might add!
