Hello All

Hi everyone!

My name is Aubrey, strange name I know but that’s life. I'm getting my Honda Civic EX in alabaster silver on 24th August 06. It’s an ex demo so hopefully any little niggles have been sorted... or not!

Present car is a Civic Sport 1600 and it’s been perfect in the 2 and a half years that I've had it. Only had to replace one tyre, because the wife could not be bothered to avoid a piece of Mondeo that someone had carelessly left in the road after it had be written off.

Had a couple of test drives in the EX and seemed quite impressed apart from a couple of little niggles like, steering being a bit twitchy and the go pedal not seeming to have enough ‘weight’ behind it. But can’t find nothing major apart from that.

Love the forum and found some really useful hints on there like the positioning of the microphone, will look into that also probably will contact Honda and let my feelings be known on that matter.

Nice to meet you all.

And good to meet you too! Not long to wait - and be sure to read the stuff about what to look for when you pick it up (scratched dash probably being the top one).

Thanks Pottsy.

I think that I have looked through about every forum on the site that there is today. As I said, what a great site it is. Keep up the good work.

Hi and welcome.

Agree the steering does seem a little 'twitchy' at first but you soon get used to it then you start to love it as it is so precise. Don't suppose you can have 'precise' without 'twitchy'

No... I'm not the milkman, I work for a large communications company, But maybe a milk round might be preferable sometimes!

Yes, the steering is very precise but it seems to take a split second to react to any movement that you make. It was definitely noticeable from the Civic Sport that I have now. Not really a complaint but just different to what I am used to. I’m still looking forward to getting it. Us 'kids' never grow up even at my old age!

Welcome to the site Aubrey You'll really notice how good the steering is when you drive a different car after you've had yours for a while. First time I took another car out I was convinced the steering was faulty on it (too much play)

Yep... try driving a Jazz, for example. Scared the crap out of me at 70mph.

I think in the Jazz, the combination of it being windy, it being quite high sided, the slightly poor steering, wet road, doing 70mph on a busy DC, and the fact it was a loan car just made for a very interesting experience to say the least.

Hi Aubrey nice to meet you! nice choice of car, and no it doesn't make you boring not to have had any extras. The only Extra I have ordered for my ES is the bluetooth dealer-fit as I need it for work.

Let's face it, the standard spec has more toys/gadgets than most other 'kitted-out' cars anyway!

BG you should try a Renault Modus - the highest/narrowest car I have ever seen! got one as a hire car up in Scotland - taking it over the Forth Bridge with a 40kt cross wind and driving rain was not fun. At all. I think that I was actually on 2 wheels at one point

The tiny setback of driving the jazz at 70ish in strong wind can be a teeny tiny bit stressful.
I find driving the perodua kenari with the same conditions here would definately be a nightmare.
