Newbie here

Hi!

I'm not yet a Civic owner, but i will buy me one of those fantastic cars later on. Where I live and in Scandinavia Civic isn't sold with the Cdti diesel engine, for any reason... My best choice is to buy a used Civic Cdti in Germany due to tax implications etc. I don't want to drive an UK car - it would take ages for me to learn. Anyway - any member who has more information about specific problems with the Cdti engine or any useful information in this matter? Please post...

Welcome Ice Bear!

I thought a little about importing a new diesel from Norway, Denmark or Germany myself, but didn´t bother in the end - went for the petrol. It was the 190 hp remap possibility and more torque that I found interesting.

I am sure you will get some good feedback on the diesel, everyone who likes diesels seem to like it.

The only issue I know of is that it is slightly more prone to flat batteries.

By the way, I don´t think the German cars have heated seats.
That is why I was thinking Norway or Denmark.
Otherwise, new cars (without tax) are usually cheapest in Denmark - I don´t know if they have heated seats though. Norway does.

I'm Owning my car for about 7 month yet, driven 20800 km so far and no major problem at the moment !

The Engine is very reliable and is one of the best in his category (maybe the new BMW 2.0 l diesel could be better)

Hope you will find the object of your dream ... they are a few Civic to be sold here too (Mainly demonstrator car)

Welcome Ice bear. I have done almost 10000 miles in my diesel. I have not had a single problem with it, and it has not used a drop of oil. Its a great motor.

Talking Fuel consumption

Hi!

Thanks for all the good advices. I had a computer crash and have not logged in here for a long time.

I've heard the Honda CRV (petrol engine) have problems with the fuel consumption. The real fuel consumption is 80 to 90 percent higher compared with the manufacture figures. This was tested in Sweden with a more "realistic" driving cycle compared with the EU driving cycle.

How about the Civic cdti engine and it's fuel consumption - is there any problems with high fuel consumption? An example: if the manufacture figures says 51 l/100 km and you calculate the actual consumption into 64 l/100 km it's out of range, too high. 52-55 l/100 km is still acceptable, but not totally satisfying. If you are below the manufacture figures it's nice. Anyone with experiences in this subject with the cdti engine?

In the end - some Civic cdti owners claim the engine is too noisy. What's your experience with this "problem"? Normal or sometimes a problem?

I have seen a diesel Civic here in Sweden recently.
It had number plate surround from Autopunkten.
I suggest talking to them if you want a diesel in Sweden.

Regarding fuel consumption - look at the fuel survey:

Welcome from another Norwegian that also bought the petrol version - I didn't want to wait the extra months for the diesel.
Well, I must try the oil burner one day - to find out myself what everybody is talking about.
