It was a blissful late summer afternoon here in Leeds. After spending a last moment with the trusty Stilo I've driven for the last two years, I drove the two blocks from my work's car park to the dealer. Making my way to the entrance I passed my Civic in what appeared to be an indoor car preparation area; she stood absolutely spotless alongside an Accord and another, identical Civic. After the obligatory tour I finally got behind the wheel. Turning the key I was delighted to see just 5 miles on the clock and the petrol gauge as high as it would go, the free mats I'd been promised had also been fitted. The only thing I didn't like the look of were the handful of smudge marks on the dashboard: 5 or 6 oily fingerprint blemishes it seemed no-one had thought to tackle. The aroma from the leather seats really aded to the 'new car' effect. The drive home was just great: I couldn't believe how effortlessly the car leapt to 70 down the M1! After the family had nosied round the car for a while, I went straight back out and did 20 miles or so around the area. Some Charlie in a Royal Mail van pulled out to overtake me on the bypass: think again mate! I will try and get some better pictures but here's one courtesy of my mobile. |

Nice one JB, glad you're enjoying it - I presume your thorough inspection of all the known faults went okay, I'll be impressed if you don't find anything you missed in the next couple of weeks

I think that some of the dealers are not touching the dashboards now in case of scratches. The people we use to valet the cars have it figured out. Just be very carefull when you wipe the fingerprints off.

JB75 - glad it all went well (smudge marks aside).
When you manage to pull yourself away from driving (eg eating, toilet, sleeping) do remember us folks who are still waiting and need to share your experiences with the car. |
