Satisfaction?

I am at the 'research' stage of my 2006/2007/2008...2023 Civic. Either way i will get one as I have only driven Hondas for the last five years and can't find anything else which feels as precise. Some parts of my 2003 Civic are a little plasticky and the engine is nothing special to look at but it is cheap to run, spacious, well equipped and is a nice drive too. I have never seen so much negativity about a model as I have for the 2006 Civic. Is it really that bad? I'm joining the Finns (namely iittala) in the againstthrowawayism campaign to keep things for as long as they remain serviceable.

All things considered, are you happy with your new Civic.
I'd also be interested in how many people would recommend a Honda, I have to many friends and so far they are all happy!
Would you buy another one when you are ready to change.

Having just come back from Finland i was surprised to see as many Civics as I did, even in a small town like Kokkola! Why do people there drive around the town showing off their cars? There was a guy in black pontiac who drove past me eight times in two hours! closely followed by a red 2006 Civic!

I think the negativity is due to all the members of the forum being real Civic enthusiast and they (including me) want perfection. If you look at the thread about previous cars you will also see negativity and it is much worse than on the Civic.

Overall I think the Civic is one of the best cars I have ever owned and would recommend it to anyone

i know what you mean, but if we are all enthusiasts then the negativity should be constructive criticism. I worry that all this can damage the Honda brand. I really hope they are paying some guy to trawl this site and make a snagging list for the first facelift (and also some other issues before that). They are in danger of losing some serious ground here.

I remember Honda recalling one of my Dad's civics years ago for a potentially faulty lightswitch, when the car was four years old! where are those kind of gestures these days? By the sounds of it all the 1.8 i-VTECs need the engines sorted, all Civics need a new dash visor and a better paint job at the least. I'm worried!

I don't think the dealers help much either. I'd love to see honda cut out all the franchises (do a Daewoo, but make it work) but that will never happen.

Most things here have made me think, hmmm will it be a civic or an accord next, for me to even think about deviating from a plan is a big thing!!

Stick to the Civic, you won't regret it. One of my colleagues at work has an S2000 and an Accord, he is looking to trade the Accord in for a Civic

I am happy with my Civic, and have voted YES above...........but I'm not as happy as I have been with my previous Hondas.

Yes, its cleverly packages, fast, economical, good looking etc. etc.

But, it is also showing signs of poor attention to detail, poor quality control, and an attitude from Honda of 'don't react unless the customer complains' isn't good enough. Attention to detail on my previous Civic and Accord was outstanding, as was after sales care. I too remember having a recall about a lights switch issue on my last Civic.

With the backlog of orders, is it a case of "get 'em built and ship 'em out"!

What the heck were you doing there?

That area of Finland is mostly Swedish speaking and there are lots of wealthy people living there. That said, also with most smaller Finnish towns there are lots of people who are clearly the result of cousins marrying each other if you get my drift. "American style" if you watch Top Gear.

And don't get me wrong my fellow Finns, I have moved to Helsinki from a small town.

I'm pleased with my Honda. Sure the plastic dash had scratches on it from day one, but that is getting sorted out by the dealer as soon as they get replacement parts. I had a little incident the other day with the boot lid leaking water into the car. Having that checked out wednesday.
Seems like a lot, but with the positive and friendly assistance from my dealer and the fact that I'm no longer pootling around in my 206 makes up for these small short-comings.

I'd recommend getting a Civic no doubt about it. In fact I already have.

I voted yes, but like others there have been a few too many quality control issues that shouldn't have happened, latest one being the rubbed off paint around the light clusters.

I voted yes. A great car that could have been a perfect one with a little more attention to detail.

I have voted yes,but My car is in the garage today having the water leak into the boot sorted . ( Jazz lone car seems much more consistantly screwed together ! ) The cheep and nasty feel of the front door handles , thr veiw out of the rear ( I can see somethings behind me , do I need to know what it is ?) The lack of spare, and then there is the choppy ride ( don't get me started on the ride )
