Been lurking for a while, so it's time to join.

Had my lovely black 1.8Se with nice leather seats for a couple of months now and very pleased with it.

hi mahatma_andy, welcome to the site...

I thought your name sounded familiar... of course .. like mahatma gandhi.
Mahatma in sanskrit means great soul according to wikipedia.

Thanks for the welcome.

Newboy - I'm finding the leather very comfortable and its looking really nice. Only downside it that it got a bit hot in the heatwavr, especially with shorts on. The arctic air con soon sorts it out though. Should be ok in the winter with the heating too - the kids will be fighting for the bum warmer seat in the front! I had leather on the last car (Alfa 156, there's a few on here - must be something to do with the hidden door handles) and i don't think i'd get a car without it now. Test drove a couple of civics with the velour and i think it would be a pig to keep clean with kids.

Picking up lots of really good info here - i've set the door locking and unlocking and I know how much the speedo overreads, so i can go past the speed cams just right.

Andy - thxs for this. Good to hear about the leather and ease of keeping clean with a two year old was part of the reason I went for it (plus reasonable price compared to other manufacturers). I think I've also read here that the velour is a magnet for picking up dust etc.

I think in common with a lot of cars the speedo's about 10% over when measured against a satnav. Its an inexact comparison because of hills etc. The digital speedo makes it a bit mor obvious.

Mines about 10% over up to 40mph, then it seems to settle at 4 - 5 mph over all the way up to ... er ... 70mph or so.

It's better this way round of course as an indicated 45 would be around 40 in the real world.
