New member looking at buying a Civic....
Just realised I should have put my location in the title D'oh !! I'm in Edinburgh.
Had a couple of test drives in a 1.8 EX and have been very impressed. Must admit the dash and layout and driving position has grown on me after spending another 40mins driving through Peebles...... On the verge of buying a 1.8 Sport but my other half has a real gripe about the rear view.....I tend to drive forwards the bulk of the time but nevertheless I'm having some job convincing her it's the car for us. She was the one who suggested we consider it in the first placxe Maybe Rain X is teh answer Really like the Civic having had two spins.....now a nod from the wife and more haggling with the dealer and maybe it will be a donw deal soon........ Any feedback on the Honda dealer in Peebles would be appreciated (good and not so good) the guys seem quite fair so far after a chat I had after the test drive. Cheers and a great forum by the way........enjoyed the chat on here immensely after mlurking for a few days. Last edited by PJdali; 9th September 2007 at 19:05. Reason: forgot to put in my location. |

Welcome PJ!
The rear vision is not great. But: a) The wing mirrors are. b) Buy the parking sensors c) You get used to it d) It is not a problem (for me) Don´t let that be a deal breaker...it is a lovely little car. Have a look in the Wiki for dealer reviews. You can put your location in your profile - click "user cp" etc |

Thanks for the welcome.
I own a 1.4fsi Golf at the moment and getting into the Civic is like stepping into the 21st century. I'll keep nagging my wife until she admits it's the right choice for "us" So much info on this site...just had a look over the wiki and I'll no doubt be posting a few questions around what to buy as dealer fit options etc. Seems that almost all Honda options are dealer fit, whereas the golf it seemed most where factory fit. Always makes me nervous the thought of someone ripping off door panels, dashboard panels etc fittings speakers and stuff in a dealer and it not been put back on as tightly as a factory fit......maybe that poor work was reserved for a well known multi brand dealer in Scotland....as I've had a few dodgy experiences with certain dealers of the years |

Hey PJ welcome to the forum
I'm afraid I can't really help with dealer unless you wish to travel a little further afield to Stirling we have used Phoenix Honda Stirling for the past 4/5 years and not had any major issues but I can say You have made the right choice of car |

I have to say that despite all my moans about the civic the rear view isnt one of them, you do get used to it and the mirrors are huge. Definately consider parking sensors as an option.

You know I have been thinking about this rear view issue and I realised that I actually only use the rear view to check if there is something behind me whilst I am driving. When I am parking I actually use the parking sensors and my wing mirrors and don't really look out of the back window when parking. I think having parking sensors at the back helps remove the need to look through the window so much
I accept that I haven't got my car yet but I do remember from the test drive that the wing mirrors more than compensate for the rear view. |
