Hi Guys,
Picked up my very first Honda today. 2.2 CTDI EX and first impressions are great!! Need a bit of help though on a couple of things... 1) Car wont start - making a fast clicking noise. I test drove it on Saturday and it started up fine. I picked the car up at roughly 1pm today and it started up first time no problem. I then drove about 25-30 miles home with no problems (stopping at Tesco on the way and car started up fine when leaving). About an hour or so later I went to go back out and it wouldn't start?? It just kept making a loud clicking noise with the lights on the dash flashing. I'm guessing it has something to do with the battery?? I did spend about 20-25mins on my driveway playing with the satnav/climate control/settings etc and getting used to all the controls without having the engine running. Could this have drained the battery that much that it wont start??? Best suggestions for diagnosis and best action to take would be greatly appreciated. 2) Cant get the fuel cap release to work. I've tried pulling it a few times but to no avail. The bonnet release is working perfectly but not the fuel release. I dont know where to start with this as i dont want to pull it too hard and risk snapping it and I dont want to try and wedge the cap open with card for the same reason. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Cheers Chris |

Welcome aboard Chris!
Likely you'll need to charge the battery or get a jump to start it. For the fuel filler cap, look here: Fuel filler cap fails to open - Civinfo Wiki |

I would be having words with the seller, I assume it is a private sale as you do not mention taking it back or warranty. If it is a private sale then I believe the seller should contribute to sorting out these problems, unless of course he pointed them out to you when selling the car.

i've had both of the problems...
Firstly you need a new battery... I left it for 3 months thinking it'd be alright; Did a couple of weeks of shortish journeys and one saturday morning it wouldn't start!! Go for a bosch s4 I think it is - get them to pay of course 2. do the fix that has been copied -a 5 minute fix and it'll save you having the problem again... dead easy to do. Fix number 3: enjoy the motor |

I've just been to test drive a 2.2 i-CDTI today. I'm off back on Wednesday to pay and pick up assuming they fix some paint damage.
I just love the grunt from the engine. What age and mileage is your and how much you pay?? If you don't mind me asking. |

I very recently got my 2.2 ICDTI SE 39000mi MY08, for between 8k-9k. if you keep the same price, you can get an ES but at about 60000mi . Hope that helps !

Cool, I'm picking up an 08 2.2 EX 24500, for £9600. Seems like I'm paying about right then. Did you px or not??

I've managed to get it started with jump leads so took it for a bit of a run to charge the battery, lets hope it still starts in the morning. I'm still going to take it back and get them to fit a new battery though. Also managed to get the petrol cap open by asking a mate to pull the release and it opens for a split second, enough time to squeeze a finger in and open it. Again, I'm going to try and get them to fix this as well! Thanks for the help guys. |

The panoramic roof looked interesting - but again, it came down to keeping the price the same but increasing the mileage of the car, or paying another +£1k for the roof. PX - no. This was the original plan - I was going to PX my 2006 FORD FOCUS 1.6ZETEC TDCI but it got written off by some tit in a Silver BMW who smashed into it while it was parked - so that was that. Mind you - the writeoff payment actually helped me out - and it led to me getting a Civic - so cant be all bad eh? Take care, fella! |
