Oops! I guess I should have done this by now?

Hi folks,

My apologies for not doing this sooner, I've already made a few posts but thought I'd better introduce myself!

Still on the (annoyingly long!) waiting list for a Black Civic 1.8 i-VTEC EX iShift with ivory sports upholstery and matching spoiler, ordered at the beginning of August so I'm not expecting the car until October! Decided to go for the Civic after falling in love with the looks after watching the superb advert on TV, and then reading up and getting a brochure through the post. It's a company car, and one of my colleagues has already taken delivery of a Civic of the same spec, but in red, and cannot say enough good things about it! Having seen how striking the car looks in the car-aprk next to all the BMW's and Peugeots, I'm fully convinced I made the right choice! I wonder if I can just go into hibernation until October??

The name's Steve, I'm from sunny Essex and am particularly looking forward to testing the iShift box out round the country lanes!

Hi Steve (nice to have a fellow member of clan Watson around ), welcome to the forum - you're gonna love the car I guarantee* it!

the wait can be very frustrating at times, I'm counting down the days (17 now)

don't forget to post in the colour poll and the age poll!

Hi Steve and welcome.

Great choice of colour ; the best! Can I suggest you change the rear spoiler for the stainless steel door treads; they look great every time you open the door. The Black spoiler unfortunately doesn't show too well on the NH Black. Looks good on the other colours but there's a lot of black around that area and it blends in. The stainless door garnish though looks brilliant in place of that plasticky strip.

The i-SHIFT is brilliant; you will love it.

Welcome, have fun.

Welcome Steve, hope the wait is not too bad for you. I too have the Civic as a company car, it is great parking it next to my colleagues Passats, Mondeos and 407's........ BORING! The good thing with that is that it doesn't shout at that its a Company Car, makes it look like you just have impeccable taste, which of course we all do.

Welcome SteveWatson, I agree with allan40alt, drop the spoiler and go for door garnish. Looks classy.

Thanks for all the welcomes, folks!!

My namesake did indeed play for Newcastle, and now for West Brom - which should create some fun when the Baggies come to Roots Hall on New Years Day so I can scream "There's only two Steve Watsons!!"

Damnit! I can't change it now, as the car's been ordered by the lease company and if I want to adjut it they'd have to cancel the order and start again - not the best level of service, that, I don't think, but hey, I can't complain really - I have a red 307 right now that has been in and out of the garage for repairs more than I can remember, so if all I have to worry about on the wonderful Civic is that the trim would have looked better than the spoiler, I'll be dead chuffed!!

Nope, I must admit, I'm very lucky in being able to select a Civic - I had to argue my case, but eventually my boss gave in - I couldn't bear the thought of another 3 years in a Peugeot!!

Hi Steve, I think the spoiler and the door garnish are 'dealer fit' items so they only have to tell their supplying dealer that they want to amend the spec.

Interesting - I'll get on to the person who does our cars here and see what can be done . . . .

Hurrah!!! Lease comapny has called to say my car should be ready for next week, but if i want to drop the spoiler for the trim, it would mean a new quote from the lease company and a delay.

Think I'll stick with the spoiler!!

Welcome Steve, although I cannot agree about the advert. The first time I saw it I commented to my wife 'That would not encourage me to buy one of those'. Oh well I soon had to eat humble pie

It is funny that there has yet to be a 'Real' advert for the Civic and they are selling so well. Just think how long we would all be waiting if they advertised it!

Hmmm, I may have been a little over-eager - turns out that's just when the dealer is "expecting" delivery from Honda.

So, depending on how accurate Hondas delivery times are . . .

Its surprising how many car adverts do not concentrate on the car, like the new Focus advert, shows a load of twisty mountain roads and then finally at the end the car, I think there are 2 ways to interpret it

1. I bet that car handles really well.

2. Which seemingly bottomless ravine will you call your grave?

And that new text they are using, I thought it was an ad for Orange Mobile.

................and relax.
