Hello I'm from Glasgow Scotland
I am getting my used Civic 2.2 EX in 7 days time - cannot wait.
I am trading in an expensive 4x4 for a car that provides style, performance and economy. I thoroughly enjoyed the test drive of civic at the dealership and despite reading some recent reviews that suspension, tyre choice and civic model chosen may affect overall enjoyment. Look forward to enjoying the Civic in due course. Best wishes to all Civic owners. Ps Apologies if I haven't posted this message correctly as this is the first forum group that I have joined. |

Welcome, SJL.
You've picked a fine car and live in fine town. I'm sure you'll enjoy using the one in the other. Does the "71" refer to anything in particular? |

Welcome SJL,
good to have yet another scotsman on the forum ( there are quite a few of us now) However I will have a wee moan at you - you say you are trading in a 4x4 against your newish civic - which to me sounds like you never needed the 4x4 in the first place or you would be trading it in for a CR-V Hmmm what do you have to say for yourself ( ah I'm just teasing - you will love your civic when you get her and probably have a laugh on here aswell) |

Of course it is - it's just typical Glasgow understatement.
PS Dunblane is - Stirling isn't. (unless they've slipped in a cathedral recently, without telling me) |

Stirling was given City Status a few years back - infact (I would need to check this) but it may even still hold the title of Scotlands newest city !!!! |

Well - that was news to me.
I checked the Toon Cooncil (sorry, CITY Cooncils's) web site and they say it was granted in 2002. I'd heard about Inverness and Brighton, but not Stirling. Still don't think you can just suddenly MAKE somewhere a city (even if it's Lizzie the two (one to us) that says so). A proper city is large (>250,000 inhabitants, maybe) with a centre, suburbs, industry and more than one railway station or football club! It's getting like America where every one-horse town calls itself a "city"! Also, traditionally, a city must have a cathedral - hence Dunblane, Brechin and Elgin are cities. Er, ....just ignore the bit above about the railway station and footie club thing, will you? |

Well shame on you - you should have known that
Just watch your step the next time. Cheek calling my birthplace a town hummphhh Stirling (it might only have one railway station but it also has a castle !!!!)is an important City as is Dunblane next thing you will be telling me you support Falkirk or Celtic |

That last comment is well below the belt.
I've nothing against Falkirk F.C., but just 'cause you've got a castle (and a bloody good one, I must admit) doesn't give you the right to use the ultimate insult of calling me an Old Firm supporter! Not an easy task these days, I must admit. Still - somebody's got to. PS we may manage to whip the Binos on the 20th - but i doubt it. |
