Fully agree in your point of view on the Type-R! It really is much more to it than just focusing on reving and speeding! Oh yes, the v-tec engine is a masterpiece of an engine, that's for sure. I read somewhere that much of the Type-R engine is hand made. Do you know if this is true?! I hope you didn't misunderstood me abt the teenager thing R-2, I was just joking, wasn't attemting insinuating something. Just ignore that post! However, it IS fun to be a teenager sometimes, we should do that more often. Abt the Golf I fully agree too! It is sooo dull, boring and least but not last, far too common, too many VW's anyway, imo! No question, the Type-R is my absolute favourite choice of any cars in this class/price! Last edited by amronno; 6th October 2007 at 11:56. |

No worries amronno, I did realise you were joking
Are you happy with your civic. Is it the one in your profile picture - really love that colour. Not sure why i ordered another black one. Like the colour but always needs washing |

Thanks R-2! I can undestand you are passionate about such a car. Wish it was mine. I'm very happy with my civic this far in my ownership. (since 31st may) This is my first Honda ever. I havent had any of these problems listed here on this exellent forum so far, luckily, however the spring in the fuel filler cap seems to be a little slow in the movements. But (so far) it opens evey time. However, I will get it sorted out first service. Used to be a Nissan owner (5 or 6 previous cars), but after Renault (more or less) took over the business, they started to get very dull, looking like Renaults with Nissan logo. So, when Honda launched their new spaceship, it was an easy choice leaving Nissan. The civ was even more spectacular than I expected it to be! The car on the avatar picture is mine, taken last month, oh yes...... just washed |

Unfortunately its not possible to get a Type R in vivid blue. You can only choose from black, bronze, silver or red. I like the black because the red 'H' really stands out
How long did you have to wait for your car? I can't believe i've still got 7 weeks to go - and thats an optimistic estimate. It already feels like forever Also it is a bad time of year to get a new car - dark mornings, dark evenings - no one gets to see it! Winter also brings wet muddy roads (I live in the countryside) so my car is NEVER clean. Do they put salt/grit on the roads in Norway in winter - also bad for making your car very dirty. |

I waited, believe it or not 9,5 months, (in letters).... nine and a half months for my civic, (Aug`06 - to end of May`07) so I am probably the record holder of long wait among the members of this forum. And the worst thing is that during that period of time, I didn't even know that civinfo.com existed! So, seven more weeks to wait is just in time for arrival of the x-mas present to yourself, if I can give you some comfort! They spray alot of salt on the main roads over here in winters, and here on the west coast of Norway the weather is changing all the time, snow one day, rain the next. It is very bad both for the environment and the cars! |

9.5 months!!!! Thats such a long time. Why so long? Still it was worth the wait I'm sure. I saw the photos of your car when i was looking in the gallery forum. It looks really fantastic. I want your wheels on my new car. Sadly though i have spent all my money on the car + the sat nav,hft etc so nothing left for cool alloys |

It is a very long wait, that's for sure. I don't know why it took so long, really, but perhaps it has something to do with putting in my order from a very small dealer. Also, I was told that the 1.8i executive version (xenons, glass roof, sat-nav) was a very popular choice. You get a whole lot of extra valuable toys for a small amount of money. If you should added that kind of equipment into a similar (german i.e.) car, it would have cost a fortune. Thanks for the comments on the wheels, appreciate. After joining this forum, I know there are quite some differences between the UK and the mainland Europe versions for some reason. Over here, the above mentioned is standard equipment on the 'executive', but not on the 2.2 diesel(not available in Sweden, Finland) as they only sell the 'sport' edition of that one. A prize issue, I guess! Complicated, isn't it! Oh, I guess you just have to save some money during the winter and wait for the spring purchasing your new alloys, when it is the right time of the year, and more people noticing them! Just my advice..... ......which reminds me.... I have to put on the winter wheels now! |

I think that by the time i get my car I will be so keen to drive it that i will spend all my money on petrol and not be able to save anything towards some new alloys! Any money i might have left my daughter will probably spend any way...... But i can dream.
What do winter wheels look like? Do you have to remove your really nice alloys or do you just put new tyres on? |

Here's a picture of an unstudded wintertyre: SuperView of the Michelin x-Ice ....and some info: http://www.michelin.co.uk/auto/auto_...cr_pne_hvr.jsp ....and a thread: Are winter tyres different to summer tyres? Oh, nearly forgot, yes I have to remove my summer alloys and stowe them away for the winter. (complete wheels) I will use the original (summer) alloys as winterwheels by removing the standard tyres and put on unstudded winter tyres instead! Hopefully I am picking them up tomorrow..... Thanks Amronno for the info. Must be annnoying having to change tyres and wheels twice a year. Glad we don't have to do that here - but then i do wish it snowed here in winter. I love snow and skiing etc etc - i'll have to come and live in Norway!!
Not so much fun in a Type r though (on second thoughts its always fun in type r |

Yes, I guess some people find the frequent wheel changes a bit annoying and a pain. What I do know for sure, is that many people are reluctant of carry out this kind of job themselves. (just the switch over on the car, not on the alloys) Normally I do the job myself, with a garage jack it takes half an hour or so. Wheels are heavy too, so many feels it very hard dragging them in and out of the car and off to the local tyre shop/dealer. And of course, two sets of complete wheels are not exactly cheap. You are welcome to Norway anytime, and bring along your Type-R..... the cruise ferry sails between Newcastle upon Tyne and Bergen twice a week. Last edited by amronno; 22nd October 2007 at 01:04. |

In that case i'll leave my car behind and bring my skis instead - almost as much fun as driving a type r Need another trip to Norway to buy another Dale sweater!! I'm interested to know if ride feels less hard on your 17" standard wheels. I'm a little nervous about getting 19" alloys for my car as the ride in an 'R' is already quite hard. Sorry to keep asking lots of questions - hope you don't mind |

Oh yes, I know, the Dale sweaters is a must for many tourists to buy, although they are quite expensive. The ride feels quite a bit softer with the 17" standard wheels, but I'll have to give the winter tyres most of the credit for that. They are made from a softer compound rubber, and also they have larger tread block pattern. When I changed from the 'normal' 17" standard (summer tyres over here) wheels to 18" in dim. 225/40 x 18", the difference was rather insignificant, IMO. I thought about whether I should go for the 19"s myself, but after given it a second thought, I decided to stick with the 18"s. There are three reasons for my choice; 1) cheaper, (just slightly and not the most important) 2) very easy to damage, (not much sidewalls left on tyres) 3) like you mentioned, the hard and bumpy ride, not very comfortable in the long run. Mind you, this is just my opinion for the non-R civic, the suspension, springs and brakes are totally different on the Type-R as you know, so it will behave quite different! It is hard for me to recommend you whether you should go for the 19"s, as long as the Type-R feels hard already. In the light of that I might have considered the 18" instead. On the other hand; the Type-R looks damn good with 19" wheels fitted... |
