A car registered in April 2004 would have a plate 'xx04 xxx' , and in October would be 'xx54 xx'.

So a 55 plate would be registered between 1st September 2005 and 28th February 2006, and a 57 plate between 1st September 2007 and 28 Feb 2008

As you can probably gather, the above system was invented by bureaucrats, rather than normal human beings

It's a dumb system, and it doesn't count for some (Q plates [engine changes, kit-cars etc.] & Private plates [like you guys get saying pretty much whatever you want, except we have to find ones that sort of make sense, like mine 'P4 FET' for Paffett] etc.).

Guessing your from Florida (from your 350z plate)??? Great part of the world (wouldn't mind moving to the US to teach in a few years, at least you guys get weapons, all we get is, well nothing really ).

I dont think they issue weapons to the teachers, unless it a dry-wipe marker launcher

Unknownsoldier - I moved to California about a year and a half ago but have every intention of moving back to Florida. Also the 350Z is so much nicer then the Civic, I find myself missing it every day!

Can you guys not own weapons??? Or do you just need special permits???

Looney John - It's funny you should say that! I actually had a teacher when I was 12 who would throw erasers at her students. Needless to say she was fired after she was caught doing this!

FWH- Yes, the Aux jack (3.5mm jack) is standard on most of the US models. The reason I posted a picture of it was because I saw numerous threads about people trying to connect their iPods to the stereo. Very useful feature.

Odd that they put it in the US version but not ours.

Not enough of a reason to move over the pond though...

Agreed. However, it shouldn't be difficult to install one in your civic if you are a DYI kind of guy.

Nope, we can't have guns (well nothing decent, shotgun or a rifle and the latter is
the hardest permit to obtain (three years and still trying.....) Handguns and assault rifles are banned outright , there was me wanting a nice .357 magnum). It kinda sucks the only guys with guns are those holding them illegally...... oh and we can't legally defend ourselves or our homes to any great degree either (legally that is.... hmmmm). At least you guys have a fightin' chance, my friend Marty lives in Alabama, and he said one of the reasons he'd never live in the UK is he can't keep his gun...7th Amendment IIRC??.

Btw, teachers on US campus's will soon be allowed to carry concealed weapons if they meet the requirements.......so I am informed.

2nd amendment. But I guess the law is there for a reason. Is it safe to assume that the crime rate is lower in the UK then it is in the US?

My mother is a school teacher, I'll have to ask her about being allowed to carry concealed weapons the next time I talk to her (usually few and far between).

What kind of guns are you allowed to have legally (just shotguns and rifles)?

We are allowed: shotgons with a licence, rifles with a fire-arms certificate, air rifles up to 12 ft lb, air pistols up to 6ft lb, hand guns firing black powder at a range with a licence. Pretty much everything is banned or controlled.

I have a decent FT air rifle (target shooting), a catapult and a pea-shooter.
