Hello Everyone

Hi
I'm not a Civic owner just yet, Im seriously concidering the 2.2 ES, but not sure whether to take the plung, my current car is an 07 Focus ST2, the reason for the change, im fed up spending all my time at the petrol station, I know this is a Civic forum and you all love your cars but is there anything I should look out for before buying, the local dealer are offering me a pre reg 57 plate for £15,800, is that a fair price..

any help on this would be greatly appriciated

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul

If it's the fuel you are concerned about, the 2.2 is a great motor. I spend most of my time on the motorway and this week have an average MPG of 59.9.

Have you taken one out for a long test drive?

Welcome to the forum.

Take it out and give it a good run and you won't be disappointed.

Get out in it for as long as you can, dealers shouldn't expect you to make a decision of this size based on a ten minute test drive.

Oh and welcome to the forum.

To be honest the sales man is being a bit pushy, so ill see what happens tomorrow, one thing that concerns me is the speedo, is it accurate, and does the rev counter reflect badly on the windscreen at night

probably a bit late to answer this now!

but
no, its not all that accurate - although probaly no worse than a lot of others, and it can be fixed, and even if not, you get used to how far out it is
and
no, it doesn't reflect (not with my seat position anyway - and you can dim the dash easily if it is a problem for you)

A bit late but you may have liked the Type R, its fuel economy is better than the ST and you get similar performance. I was seriously tempted by the diesel as well.

Half the rev counter reflects in the screen for me, but the reflection is fairly high up and out of the line of sight.

Thanks for all the reply's, you've all been a great help... I've always been a Ford man so this is very much a learning curve for me.

I did try the Type R before I bought the ST, but the performance on the ST is far better than the type R (Sorry chaps), plus with the plug in Bluefin gave me an extra 50 bhp which made the car phenominal to drive.

I'll let you all now how I get on with the new car...

...
Top Gear lap Times
Civic Type R... 1min 34.3
Focus ST....... 1min 33.5 secs (standard)

The focus turbo makes it feel faster because of the low down torque. But little in it if you enjoy using the gears.

I bet the Bluefin made the ST fly though.

Welcome to the Forum. Now I know why you spent so much time filling up the ST, probably was guttsy before the remapping with the bluefin! I had the bluefin on my Mini and watched as the fuel consumption fell by a good third instantly! lol!

You'll love every min of the Civic. I like you tried the ST (3) and the Civic (CTR) and loved everything about the Civic. I test drove the 2.2 first though cause they didn't have a CTR at the time and I thought that was great too!

Enjoy your car!

The bluefin made the car what Ford didn't, I know what you mean about watching the gauge go down quickly though, I was getting 18mpg on a good day, on a run it was better about 300mls to a tank, I only ran the car on BP ultimate, the woman in the garage got to know me on first name terms as I was spending so much time there (and that was scary) lol, still the Civic will sort that problem out thank gooodness................
