front / rear speaker swap?

Just a thought...

as ever, I'm going to have to ramble a bit to set the scene - sorry!

We have a 14yr old daughter, and as per teenagers eveywhere, she wants her music about twice as loud as we do :roll-eyes:

Not a problem - I've just turned up the rear speakers a bit

Except that I went for the concert pack, so have baseworks in the front, and standard ones in the back.

Whilst the baseworks aren't all that great, the rears are getting totally overwhelmed

Specially when I'm in the car by myself and ramp it up a bit

So
As I'm looking to spend my money elsewhere, as a cheap 'fix' could I 'just' swap the front and rear speakers over - would this give a better result at the same volumes?

cheers very

PS - if it's a 'yes' - will I need all sorts of electronics degrees to do it?

In my old car, I only bothered upgrading my rear speakers, and faded the sound to the back. For me it worked very well.

I would recommend doing that, especially in your situation, but I do not know what size the units are and their mounings. They are not usually the same front and back, but the civic may be different.

Call me a bit daft if you like...

Call me stupid but doesn't the concert pack mean upgraded front and back?, with baseworks and the upgraded cones + upgraded tweeter. I am sure it said it was a 6-speaker deal.

Also i may be mistaken but the baseworks speakers on my car seem to be loaded in the back doors?... they sound much "woolier" than the fronts.

Anyway sorry to add to the confusion and i am sure as always that I must be mistaken.

Hope you find a quick answer soon.

Cheers

Elis

Degs, get your daughter an i-pod and head phones, and she can deafen herself, while you have peace and quiet !!

LOL

NOW I'm confused...

I definately ordered and paid for, the concert pack.

What I've actually got is some sort of tweaters on the door (plain black), baseworks speakers in the front, and what appear to be normal speakers in the back.
(silver rings, but no "baseworks" written on them like the front ones do)

And because the fader is turned up at the back, it's those speakers which are causing the problem.

So I guess the first question is - should I already have baseworks speakers back there

ok, I've done some of my own digging

concert pack is:
Bassworks + Co-axial speakers in the front complete with speaker rings (and mine say bassworks on these rings, just to confuse matters!)

Bassworks is:
new speakers (not co-axial) in the rear + amp
may or may not include speaker rings.

So - I guess I've got the right bits - but it still leaves me with lesser (?) speakers in the rear - which is where I actually need the better quality ones to cope with the increased volume daughter wants...

BUT, according to the site, you can't combine the co-axial speakers (which withOUT bassworks can go either front or rear) with the bassworks system

Possibly becuase they are 4ohm, whereas bassworks speakers are 2ohm?
